Bandar: an old port town with modern trades
Machilipatnam was one of the busiest ports on India's east coast in the seventeenth century, when traders called it Masulipatnam or simply Bandar. The Dutch East India Company set up here early in that century and the English followed in 1611. Local people still call it Bandar, and the name survives in Bandar laddu, the sweet many visitors carry home.
Today the town is the headquarters of Krishna district, around 60 km from Vijayawada. Its economy rests on a few distinctive trades: imitation and rolled gold jewellery, the Kalamkari printing of nearby Pedana, fishing and aquaculture along the coast, rice from the delta, and the offices, courts, colleges and hospitals that any district headquarters draws.
A new deep-water port has been under construction since 2019, and with it come expectations of logistics firms, suppliers and new residents. Whether that happens quickly or slowly, businesses that already have a proper web presence will be the ones found first by newcomers searching on their phones.
For most Bandar businesses, the buyer is not local. Jewellery goes to resellers across South India, Kalamkari to boutiques and designers in many cities, and seafood to processors and exporters. A good website has to explain the product clearly to someone who has never visited Machilipatnam.
Imitation and one gram gold jewellery makers
Machilipatnam has made imitation jewellery since the 1890s, and the trade has grown into a cluster of hundreds of small units and home-based workers, many of them women. A dedicated jewellery park on APIIC land at Chilakalapudi houses a large group of manufacturers, and many more work in Inagudurupet, Rustumbada and other parts of town. The products, from haarams and necklaces to bangles, vaddanams and temple jewellery, sell mostly across the southern states.
Most of this trade moves through resellers and wholesalers who order on WhatsApp after seeing photographs. That works, but it has limits. Designs get copied, photographs circulate without your name, and new buyers have no way to check that you are a genuine maker rather than a middleman.
We build catalogue sites where each design has a code, clear photos against a plain background, weight, finish and plating details, set contents and MOQ. Resellers can filter by category or occasion and send an enquiry that carries the design codes straight to your WhatsApp. A watermark with your brand protects your photographs, and a small “about the unit” section with real pictures of your workshop builds trust with new buyers.
Catalogues with hundreds or thousands of designs fit our SEO website plan, starting at ₹20,000. Units that want to sell directly to customers can add a store later without rebuilding.
Pedana Kalamkari: telling buyers what makes it genuine
Machilipatnam Kalamkari, block-printed with natural dyes, carries a geographical indication, and its production is tied to Pedana and neighbouring villages such as Polavaram and Kappaladoddi. Workshops there print sarees, dupattas, running fabric, bedspreads and wall hangings sold to boutiques, designers and exporters.
Online, genuine Kalamkari competes with cheap screen-printed and digital-printed fabric sold under the same name. A buyer scrolling a marketplace often cannot tell the difference. Your website is where you can show it: the blocks, the dyeing and washing stages, the natural colours and the slight irregularities that mark hand work.
We build sites with a short, factual process section, product pages that state fabric, dimensions, dye type and care instructions, and a trade section with MOQ and custom printing details for designers. For retail, a store with UPI checkout, fabric-by-the-metre ordering and honest colour notes works well. Stores start at ₹50,000; a trade catalogue starts at ₹20,000.
If your unit is registered as an authorised user of the GI, that detail belongs on the site with the registration number. If it is not, we will not claim it for you.
What a website costs in Machilipatnam
In Machilipatnam you will find quotes from a few thousand rupees for a template to large sums from agencies in Vijayawada or Hyderabad. The cheap version rarely includes search setup, and the expensive one often includes features you will never use. Our starting prices are on the pricing page for anyone to see.
A static site of up to 100 pages starts at ₹10,000 and is ready in one to two weeks, suitable for a shop, clinic, school or small trader. A 299+ page SEO site for a jewellery or Kalamkari catalogue starts at ₹20,000 and takes three to five weeks. WhatsApp and AI automation begins at ₹40,000, online stores at ₹50,000 and custom software at ₹60,000. Monthly SEO starts at ₹10,000, and maintenance from ₹8,000 a month after two free months.
Your final price depends on page count, product count, features and how much content you already have. The quote arrives in about two working days.
- Shop, clinic or school site, from ₹10,000: up to 100 pages, Telugu and English, maps and WhatsApp.
- Design catalogue, from ₹20,000: 299+ pages for jewellery codes or fabric designs.
- Reseller WhatsApp automation, from ₹40,000: design sharing, order capture and follow-ups.

Aquaculture, fishing and rice trade in the delta
The Krishna delta around Machilipatnam is known for shrimp and fish farming, and the coast supports a fishing economy with a harbour at Machilipatnam. Around this sit feed and seed dealers, hatcheries, pond equipment suppliers, ice plants, cold storages, transporters and processors. Inland, the delta grows paddy, and rice mills and traders serve markets across the state.
These businesses sell to other businesses, often through long-standing relationships. A simple, honest website still helps: it lists your products or services, the areas you cover, your licences and contact details, and it gives a new farmer or buyer a way to check you before calling. For feed and equipment dealers, a product page per brand or item answers questions that otherwise take a phone call each.
We keep these sites practical and quick to load on patchy mobile data in villages. A rates or availability page that you update from your phone, a WhatsApp enquiry button and a Google Business Profile that shows your godown on the map usually matter more than any design flourish.
Local SEO in Bandar: Telugu searches and the Koneru Centre map
Koneru Centre is the busiest junction in Machilipatnam and a hub for wholesalers, jewellers, sweet shops and retailers. When someone nearby searches for a shop, clinic or service, Google shows a map with three businesses first. That map is driven by your Google Business Profile, reviews and distance, and the websites below it by your pages. Our SEO service handles both.
Many local searches are in Telugu or in Telugu typed in English letters: “Machilipatnam lo best hospital”, “Bandar laddu shop”, “one gram gold shop near Koneru Centre”. Very few local websites carry any Telugu content, so a page written properly in Telugu script, with English alongside, has an easy advantage.
For jewellery and Kalamkari, the searches that matter come from outside the district, so product pages aimed at buyers across India matter more than the town name. We combine both, and monthly SEO starts at ₹10,000 with a plain report. We do not promise first place; we show what is improving.
- Google Business Profile with correct category, photos and products
- Telugu and English pages for local services
- Design and product pages aimed at buyers outside Krishna district
- Matching details on Justdial, IndiaMART and other directories
Colleges, hospitals and services of the district headquarters
As the district headquarters, Machilipatnam has the collectorate, courts and district offices, which bring in lawyers, document writers, consultants and service firms. Krishna University at Rudravaram, engineering and degree colleges and a government medical college draw students from across the district, and with them come hostels, coaching centres, bookshops and food businesses.
Colleges and coaching centres need admission pages, course details, fee information and results, with enquiries sent to a counsellor on WhatsApp. Hospitals and clinics need doctor profiles, specialities, timings and appointment requests. Lawyers and consultants need clear pages about their practice areas, written carefully to follow professional rules.
We build these with fast mobile pages and Telugu content where it helps, and we set up the map listing because most local searches begin there. Visitors to Manginapudi Beach and the town's colonial-era buildings also search for hotels and restaurants, so hospitality businesses benefit from photo-rich pages and good reviews.
WhatsApp and AI automation for reseller networks
A Bandar jewellery unit can have hundreds of resellers, many of them women who sell through their own WhatsApp groups and Instagram pages. Every day they ask for new designs, rates, stock and dispatch status, and the owner's phone becomes a flood of photos and questions.
We can connect your WhatsApp Business number to a catalogue and a simple order sheet. When a reseller asks for new arrivals, the assistant sends the latest designs with codes and rates. When she orders, the codes and quantities go into a list your packing team can work from, and a dispatch message with tracking goes out automatically. The same approach works for Kalamkari units dealing with boutiques.
AI replies are limited to information you approve, in Telugu or English, and a person takes over for price negotiation, credit or complaints. Automation starts at ₹40,000. Another of us handles the AI side and will tell you plainly if a step is better left manual.
Running your own online store from Machilipatnam
Marketplaces bring volume, but their commissions and return rates eat into margins on jewellery and fabric. Your own store builds a customer list you control and lets you price and present products your way.
Jewellery stores need sharp photos, clear notes on plating and care, set contents, and gift options. Kalamkari stores need fabric details, colour notes and length options. We build both with UPI and Razorpay checkout, courier integration with tracking links, cash-on-delivery rules if you want them, and WhatsApp order alerts. Stores start at ₹50,000 and usually take four to eight weeks.
Sweet shops can use the same approach on a smaller scale. Bandar laddu and halwa travel well enough for courier orders within the state and to Hyderabad, and families living abroad often want to send them to relatives at festival time. A simple store with gift boxes, delivery areas and clear dispatch days can turn those scattered phone requests into orders you can plan for.
Knowing which designs and buyers actually pay
Ask a Bandar jewellery owner which fifty designs sold most last season and the answer usually comes from memory. The same goes for which resellers pay on time, which states return the most pieces and which Kalamkari prints sit in stock for months. The data exists in bills, Tally files and WhatsApp chats, but nobody has time to read it together.
We build simple dashboards that pull from your billing exports and order sheets and show sales by design code, category, reseller and state, along with pending payments and slow stock. You see it on your phone each morning. Another of us and the third of us handle this kind of data work, and they start with the questions you already ask rather than a pile of charts you will never open.
A dashboard is often added to an existing website or automation project, and we quote it separately so you can decide whether it is worth it.
Working with us from Machilipatnam
We do not have an office in Machilipatnam, Vijayawada or anywhere in Andhra Pradesh, and we will not claim one. We are three engineers who work remotely with clients across India. One of us builds the full-stack side of each project, another of us handles AI, machine learning, AWS and data, and the third of us manages projects and works on data science and automation.
We begin on WhatsApp or a phone call, send a page plan and itemised quote, and share a preview link within the first week or two that you can check on your own phone. Product photos can be sent straight from your phone, and feedback goes in one chat thread so nothing is missed. We work on IST and reply every day of the week.
If you prefer to discuss details in Telugu, you can send voice notes; we reply in English or simple Hindi and confirm every decision in writing. Get in touch here.
Ownership, handover and two free months of care
Your domain and hosting are registered in your own name from the start. At launch you receive all logins, the full source code and a short guide to updating products. If you ever decide to move to another developer, you can do so without paying any exit fee.
Maintenance is free for the first two months after launch. We add new designs, update rates, fix bugs, apply security updates, take backups and check uptime. After that, maintenance continues from ₹8,000 a month, or you can call us only when a change is needed. See our web development page for what each build includes.
What to check before hiring anyone
Ask any developer whose name the domain will be registered in, whether you will get the hosting login, and what support costs after launch. Open two sites they have built on your phone over mobile data. Check whether basic SEO, such as titles, descriptions, a sitemap and Search Console setup, is included.
Be cautious about promises of first position on Google. Search results depend on competition and time, and no honest provider can guarantee a rank. Ask who will write the product text, too; we prepare a first draft from your catalogue and a call so the project does not stall waiting for words.
Jewellery and Kalamkari owners should ask one more thing: who owns the product photographs? If a developer or photographer shoots your designs, make sure the files are handed over in full resolution and that you are free to use them anywhere. Your photos are your catalogue, and losing them means reshooting hundreds of pieces.
Last, watch how quickly and clearly they answer before you pay anything. A developer who takes four days to reply to a sales enquiry will not become faster once the advance has cleared. We try to reply the same day, every day of the week.
