A small city with an unusually technical customer base
Roorkee is not a typical district town. The presence of IIT Roorkee, the Central Building Research Institute, the Bengal Engineer Group and a ring of private engineering and pharmacy colleges means a large share of the people who buy from local businesses are engineers, researchers, students, army families and faculty. They compare options on their phones, read reviews and expect a business to have at least a working website and a correct map listing.
At the same time, much of the city's trade still runs the old way. Instrument workshops sell through dealers and contacts built up over decades. Shops along Civil Lines and around Malviya Chowk depend on footfall. Suppliers to the factories near Bhagwanpur win work through phone calls and visits. None of that is wrong, but it leaves a gap: buyers who search before they call often find a directory page or a competitor from Delhi instead of the Roorkee business that actually makes the product.
Our job is to close that gap without making things complicated. For most Roorkee businesses the answer is a fast, well-organised website that states clearly what you make or offer, where you are, how to reach you and why a buyer should trust you. For some it is a larger catalogue or a store. For a few it is a custom tool. We help you decide which one you need, and we tell you when a smaller option will do.
What a website costs in Roorkee, and what the price should cover
Quotes in Roorkee range widely. Students and freelancers from the campuses will sometimes offer a site for a few thousand rupees, and agencies in Dehradun or Delhi may ask several times our price. The cheap version is often a template with no search setup, hosted on the builder's own account. The expensive version may be fine, but you should know what you are paying for.
Our starting prices are on the pricing page. A static website of up to 100 pages starts at ₹10,000 and takes one to two weeks. A 299+ page SEO website, where each product, service or area gets its own page, starts at ₹20,000 and takes three to five weeks. AI and WhatsApp automation starts at ₹40,000, an ecommerce store at ₹50,000 and a custom web application at ₹60,000. Monthly SEO work starts at ₹10,000 a month.
Every one of these is a floor, not a fixed figure. An instrument maker with 40 products and good photographs needs less work than one with 400 items and only a printed price list. You get an itemised quote in about two working days, you can remove anything you don't need, and billing starts only after you approve it in writing.
- From ₹10,000: up to 100 pages, mobile layout, enquiry form, map, basic on-page SEO. Suits shops, clinics, tutors, PGs and small workshops.
- From ₹20,000: 299+ pages built around real searches. Suits instrument catalogues, pharma vendors and multi-service firms.
- From ₹50,000: online store with cart, UPI and card payments through Razorpay. Suits instrument and lab-supply sellers.
- From ₹60,000: custom software with logins and dashboards. Suits manufacturers, institutes and contractors.
Putting Roorkee's surveying and drawing instruments online
Roorkee's instrument trade began in the early twentieth century with the repair of equipment used at Thomason College, and grew into the manufacture of compasses, dumpy and auto levels, theodolites, plane tables, levelling staves, drawing sets and laboratory apparatus. Many of these firms are family businesses in and around Civil Lines, and they supply engineering colleges, polytechnics, government departments, contractors and dealers across the country.
Buyers of these products search in a very specific way. A lab in-charge at a polytechnic in Odisha looks for “surveying lab equipment list with price”, a contractor searches for a particular model of auto level, and a purchase clerk needs a quotation format they can attach to a file. A website that answers those needs, with a page for each instrument, its specifications, accuracy, included accessories, photographs and a short demonstration video, puts a Roorkee maker in front of buyers who would otherwise go through two or three middlemen.
We build these catalogues so that each product can be found on its own in Google, grouped into sets for surveying labs, hydraulics labs or building-materials labs, and linked to a quotation request form. Where you want to sell directly, we add a store with UPI and card payments. Where tenders and institutional orders are the main business, we add downloadable specification sheets and a clear page on GST, delivery, calibration and after-sales service. The aim is that a buyer 1,500 km away can trust a firm they have never visited.
Pharma units, SIDCUL suppliers and the Bhagwanpur side
Since Uttarakhand became a state, the area around Roorkee has attracted a large number of factories, many of them pharmaceutical units, along with the Ram Nagar industrial area in the city and the Devbhoomi industrial area near Bhagwanpur. Around them works a second layer of businesses: packaging and printing suppliers, fabricators, HVAC and cleanroom contractors, lab consumable dealers, transporters and third-party manufacturers who make products for other brands.
For these firms, the website is mostly read by people deciding whether to trust them. A marketing company looking for a contract manufacturer wants to see licences, dosage forms, production capacity descriptions and quality systems. A plant's purchase team wants to know what a packaging supplier can print, in what quantities and how quickly. Pages that show this clearly, backed by real photographs of your facility, help a Roorkee firm compete with suppliers in Baddi, Ahmedabad or Hyderabad.
We are careful with claims in this sector. We will not write certifications you do not hold, invent capacity figures or copy another firm's product list. For third-party manufacturers, we can build a product range section with composition and pack size, and a secure enquiry flow for distributors. For contractors, a project section with photographs and short case notes usually does more than a long list of services.
Coaching institutes, hostels, PGs and businesses that serve students
With IIT Roorkee, COER University, Quantum University, Roorkee Institute of Technology and several other colleges in and around the city, a large part of Roorkee's local economy is built around students. Coaching centres, paying-guest houses, hostels, tiffin services, stationery and book shops, cyber cafes, gyms and eateries all depend on a population that changes every year.
That churn is the reason online visibility matters. Every July and August, new students and their parents arrive knowing nothing about the city and search for “PG near COER Roorkee”, “girls hostel Roorkee” or “GATE coaching in Roorkee”. The businesses that appear with clear photographs, honest prices, rules, distance from campus and a working WhatsApp number get the calls. Those without a site depend on word of mouth, which resets with each batch.
For coaching institutes, we build course pages with batch timings, fees, faculty profiles and a demo-class booking form. For PGs and hostels, room types, rent, deposit, food, rules and a map. For food and service businesses, a simple menu or price page with a WhatsApp order button. We keep results and claims factual; parents in a city full of engineers are quick to spot exaggeration.
Shops and showrooms from Civil Lines to Malviya Chowk
Civil Lines market is Roorkee's busiest shopping street, and the stretch around Malviya Chowk and Ganeshpur has electronics stores, restaurants, clothing shops, jewellers and service businesses. Most of these shops already have regular customers. What they miss are the people who have just moved to the city, the families visiting students, and the buyers from nearby towns such as Manglaur, Bhagwanpur, Jhabrera and Landhaura who decide where to go before they leave home.
A shop website does not need to be large. A home page with what you sell, your timings and your location, a page for each main product category, a few real photographs of the store and a WhatsApp button covers most of what customers look for. For showrooms with a big range, such as furniture, electronics or tiles, a catalogue with prices or price ranges saves the salesperson from answering the same question fifty times a week.
We also make sure the website and your Google listing agree with each other. Mismatched phone numbers or old timings are among the most common reasons a customer turns up to a closed shutter, and they quietly hurt your position on the map.
Local SEO for Roorkee: map listings, localities and the way people search
When someone in Roorkee searches for a business, Google usually shows three map listings first and then ordinary results. The map depends on your Google Business Profile, your reviews, how complete your details are and how close the searcher is. The ordinary results depend largely on your website. Doing well in both needs a little work on each, not a large budget.
We help you claim or correct your profile, pick the right primary category, add real photographs, list services and hours, and ask customers for honest reviews. On the site, we write separate pages for your main services and for the areas you serve, whether that is Civil Lines, Adarsh Nagar, Awas Vikas, Solani Puram, Ram Nagar or nearby towns like Bhagwanpur and Manglaur. Our SEO service handles both sides together.
Search language in Roorkee is mixed. Students and faculty often search in English. Families, traders and customers from surrounding villages type in Hindi or Hinglish, with queries like “Roorkee me sabse accha coaching” or “survey instrument kahan milega Roorkee”, and a noticeable share of the city also uses Urdu. We write pages that make sense to each group rather than stuffing one page with every phrase. Monthly SEO starts from ₹10,000, and we never promise a first-position ranking.
- Google Business Profile set up with the correct category, photos and hours
- Pages for each service and for the Roorkee areas you really serve
- English pages for outside buyers and Hindi or Hinglish pages for local searches
- Consistent details across Justdial, IndiaMART and trade directories
- A short monthly report written without jargon
WhatsApp and AI automation for Roorkee workshops, institutes and PGs
In Roorkee, as elsewhere, business happens on WhatsApp. An instrument maker gets a request for a quotation from a college, a PG owner answers the same questions about rent and food twenty times in August, and a coaching centre sends fee reminders one by one. Much of this is repetitive, and it is exactly the kind of work that automation handles well.
We build systems that answer common questions automatically in English or Hindi, send your price list or brochure when someone asks, record every enquiry in a Google Sheet with the date and source, and forward anything unusual to you with the full conversation. For instrument sellers, a quotation request can be turned into a draft quote in a standard format for you to check and send. For institutes, fee reminders and batch updates can go out on schedule.
Another of us, who handles our AI and AWS work, designs these so that a person always makes the final decision on money, discounts and complaints. Automation projects start from ₹40,000. Before quoting, we look at how many messages you actually receive; if the volume is small, we will suggest a simpler setup instead.
Consultants, labs, architects and engineering service firms
A city built around an engineering institute produces a steady stream of consultants: structural and geotechnical engineers, water resources specialists, architects, soil and material testing labs, survey firms and small software companies started by alumni. Their work is often commissioned by government departments, developers and contractors from other states who have never met them.
For such firms, a website is essentially a detailed CV. It should explain the services clearly, show completed projects with location, scope and photographs, list the equipment or software used, introduce the principal engineers and their qualifications, and make it easy to send drawings or tender documents. A clean structure and careful writing matter more here than visual effects.
We can also build client portals where reports and test certificates are shared securely, or simple job-tracking systems for labs that log samples, tests and results. These custom builds start from ₹60,000 and are shaped around the way your team already works, not a generic template.
Hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres
Roorkee's hospitals and clinics serve not only the city but a wide catchment of towns and villages in Haridwar district and across the border in western Uttar Pradesh. Patients often travel an hour or more, and before they set out they want to know which doctor sits on which day, what the consultation timings are, whether a particular test is available and how to reach the clinic.
We build healthcare sites that answer those questions plainly: doctor profiles with qualifications and OPD days, departments and services, test lists, timings, directions, and an appointment request that reaches the front desk on WhatsApp. Pages can be in Hindi and English. For diagnostic centres, we add a page for each common test with preparation instructions, which patients search for more often than you might expect.
We avoid claims that a doctor would not make in person, such as guaranteed cures or unverifiable success rates. That keeps you on the right side of medical advertising norms and builds trust with patients who have learned to be sceptical.
Working with a remote team when you are in Roorkee
We do not have an office in Roorkee, and we won't list an address we don't use. We are three engineers working remotely for clients across India. That keeps our costs low, and it means the person you speak to is the person writing your code, not a sales executive.
The process is simple. We start with a call or a WhatsApp conversation about your business, then send a page plan, timeline and itemised quote. Once you approve it, you get a private preview link within days that you can open on your own phone, share with partners and comment on. Small changes are usually done the same day. We reply every day of the week, in IST, and use screen sharing when something is easier to show than explain.
One of us does the full-stack development. Another of us handles AI, machine learning, AWS and data. The third of us manages projects and works on data science and automation. If you would like to talk to one of us before deciding, get in touch here, or read more about how we approach web development.
You own the domain, the hosting and the code
A surprising number of Roorkee businesses have lost a website because a student or freelancer who built it graduated, moved away and stopped answering. The domain was in their name, the hosting was on their card, and nobody else had the passwords. When the renewal lapsed, the site simply vanished.
We avoid that from day one. The domain and hosting are registered in your name, on your account. At launch you receive all logins, the full source code and a short written note explaining how everything fits together. If you later want another developer to take over, you can hand them that note and walk away, without any exit charge.
For two months after launch we maintain the site at no cost: content changes, price updates, fixes, security patches, backups and uptime and speed checks. After that, maintenance continues from ₹8,000 a month if you want us to keep looking after it, or you can call us only when something needs doing.
Questions to ask any Roorkee developer before you pay
Ask whose name the domain will be in, and make sure the answer is yours. Ask for hosting access at launch, not later. Ask to see two or three live sites they built and open them on your own phone, on mobile data rather than Wi-Fi. Ask who fixes things if the site breaks in six months, and whether that costs extra.
Be wary of anyone who guarantees the first position on Google, or who offers hundreds of backlinks for a small fee. Rankings depend on many factors nobody controls, and cheap link packages can do real harm. Check whether the quote includes page titles, descriptions, a sitemap, Search Console setup and basic speed work, because these are the parts most often skipped.
Finally, notice how quickly and clearly they answer before you pay. It is the best predictor of how they will behave afterwards.
