A district of paddy, clay and silk that sells far beyond its borders
Bankura sits where the flat rice country of Bengal starts to rise into the red, rolling land of the Chota Nagpur edge. Agriculture still provides most of the district's income, with paddy and potato the main crops, and rice mills, oil mills and cold stores form much of its industry. The Mejia thermal power station and stone crushing units add another layer of work.
What makes Bankura known outside Bengal is its craft. The terracotta horse from Panchmura has become almost a symbol of Indian folk art, and “Bankura Panchmura Terracotta Craft” received a GI registration in 2018. Bishnupur's Baluchari sarees, its terracotta temples, dokra metalwork and tussar silk are all part of the same district economy.
Bankura town itself is an administrative, medical and educational centre. The Sammilani medical college, Bankura University, Bankura Christian College and a large number of schools and coaching centres bring students and patients from across the district and from Purulia. Almost all of them look for information on their phones before they travel.
What a website really costs in Bankura
Bankura businesses usually hear one of two offers. A local computer centre offers a template site for a small sum, but keeps the domain in its own account. An agency in Kolkata or Durgapur quotes several times more, often with a yearly contract that is hard to read. Few offers explain clearly what is included or who owns what.
Our starting prices are on the pricing page. A static site of up to 100 pages, with mobile layout, contact form, WhatsApp button, map and basic search setup, starts at ₹10,000 and takes one to two weeks. A 299+ page site planned around real searches starts at ₹20,000 over three to five weeks. AI and WhatsApp automation begins at ₹40,000, online stores at ₹50,000, custom software at ₹60,000 and monthly SEO at ₹10,000.
The scope sets the final figure. A tutor or a single clinic needs a handful of pages. A craft cooperative with two hundred products, each with size, weight, finish and packing notes, needs a proper store and careful photography. Send us a short description and we reply with an item-by-item quote. Work begins only after your written approval.
- From ₹10,000: a compact site for a shop, clinic, tutor, homestay or small mill.
- From ₹20,000: 299+ pages for firms that want steady search enquiries.
- From ₹50,000: a craft or product store with UPI, cards and courier rules.
- From ₹60,000: purchase, stock or order-tracking tools shaped around your work.
Terracotta from Panchmura: selling the Bankura horse without middlemen
Panchmura potters have made terracotta for about three centuries, and the long-necked Bankura horse is now sold in city shops, craft fairs and export catalogues. Much of that value, however, is captured by traders and showrooms far away, while the families in the village work on thin margins. A few shops in Bankura's Lalbazar sell terracotta locally, but most buyers are elsewhere.
An online store changes who sets the price. We build stores with a page for each piece or set, showing height, weight, finish, the maker's name where the artisan agrees, and clear photographs from several sides. Packing matters more for terracotta than for almost anything else, so we write honest notes on how items are packed, which pin codes you ship to and what happens if a piece arrives broken.
We can mention the GI registration only where the seller is genuinely entitled to use it, and we never describe mass-produced items as handmade. Stores start from ₹50,000. For artisan groups not ready to handle online orders, a catalogue site from ₹10,000 with a WhatsApp enquiry button is often the better first step.
Wholesale buyers are a separate audience. Interior designers, hotel groups, gift companies and craft stores in other cities often want twenty or two hundred pieces with a consistent size and glaze. A wholesale page that states minimum quantities, lead times for large orders, sample charges and how you invoice turns those one-off calls into repeat business, and keeps retail and bulk enquiries from getting mixed up in the same WhatsApp chat.
Baluchari sarees, tussar and dokra from Bishnupur and the villages
Bishnupur's Baluchari sarees, with their mythological scenes woven into the pallu, sell to buyers across India and to the Bengali diaspora abroad. Weavers and small traders compete online with big retailers who may not source from Bishnupur at all. Tussar silk and dokra metal figures from the district's craft villages face the same problem: genuine work gets lost among copies.
A good craft website answers the buyer's worries directly. Who made this, and where? Is it pure silk or a blend? What are the length, weight and care instructions? How long will delivery take to Bengaluru, or to London? We build product pages that answer these plainly, with photographs of the real piece under daylight rather than edited catalogue images.
For weavers' cooperatives and producer groups, we can add a simple order-tracking tool so every order moves from loom to dispatch with a status your staff can update from a phone. We avoid inflated claims, and every page uses only the certifications, handloom marks and GI labels that the seller actually holds.
Rice mills, oil mills, cold stores and agri traders
Paddy and potato dominate Bankura's farm economy, and rice mills, parboiling units, oil mills, cold stores, seed and fertiliser dealers and farm equipment sellers make up a large share of its businesses. Their buyers include wholesalers in Kolkata and other states, government procurement agencies and retailers in nearby towns.
A mill's website does not need to be flashy. It needs the varieties you process, bag sizes, milling and sorting facilities, storage capacity, licences you hold, dispatch arrangements and a named contact who replies. For cold stores, available capacity, rates you are comfortable publishing and booking steps matter most. Rates change often, so we use a “request a quote” form rather than fixed figures on the page.
Inside the mill, paddy purchase, drying, milling yield, stock and dispatch are often tracked in registers. We build web tools that record each step and show owners a dashboard on their phone, starting from ₹60,000. We begin with one process, usually purchase and stock, and only add more when the first module is working day to day.
Seed, fertiliser and farm equipment dealers have a different need. Farmers from the blocks ask about stock, prices and subsidy schemes before they make the trip to town. A dealer page listing brands carried, the crops you advise on, service arrangements for pump sets and power tillers, and a WhatsApp number that answers in Bengali brings those farmers to your counter rather than to the next dealer on the road.
Hospitals near Sammilani, schools and coaching centres
Bankura Sammilani Medical College and Hospital is the main referral centre for the district, and around it have grown private nursing homes, diagnostic centres, dental and eye clinics, pharmacies and lodges for patients' relatives. Families from Purulia, Bishnupur and Khatra subdivisions often compare options online before travelling.
Good health websites here are simple and accurate. We build pages for each doctor and department, OPD days and times, tests with preparation notes, scheme and insurance acceptance, emergency numbers and directions from the bus stand and railway station. Appointment requests arrive on WhatsApp with the patient's details already filled in. We never promise outcomes or compare your hospital with others.
Bankura has a long educational tradition, from Bankura Zilla School in Machantala to Bankura Christian College and Bankura University. Private schools, B.Ed and nursing colleges, and coaching centres preparing students for WBJEE, NEET, WBCS and teacher recruitment exams need course pages, fees where allowed, batch timings, hostel details and an enquiry route that someone actually answers. We publish only results you can verify.
Homestays and tour operators for Bishnupur, Susunia and Mukutmanipur
Weekend travellers from Kolkata, Durgapur and Asansol come to Bankura district for Bishnupur's terracotta temples, the Susunia hill with its spring and ancient inscription, the Mukutmanipur dam, Biharinath hill and Jairambati. Many of them look for homestays, eco-resorts, guides and cars on their phones, often only a day or two before the trip.
Booking platforms charge commissions on every room. A direct website with honest photographs, room types, tariffs you are happy to publish, meal plans, distance to the main sights and a WhatsApp booking button lets repeat guests and referrals book without that cut. Guides and tour operators can list itineraries with realistic timings and pickup points.
We write in both Bengali and English, because many of these travellers search in Bengali. We do not invent reviews or use stock photographs of places you do not operate, and we keep guest enquiries in your own inbox instead of a platform's.
Small operators often work alone and cannot answer the phone while driving guests around Bishnupur. A booking form that asks for dates, number of guests and pickup point, together with an automatic WhatsApp reply confirming the enquiry, keeps travellers from booking elsewhere while they wait for a call back.
Shops and services in Machantala, Lalbazar and Kenduadihi
Bankura town's commerce runs through Machantala, Lalbazar, Kenduadihi, Lokepur, Nutanganj and the streets around the Gobindanagar bus stand, where buses leave for Kolkata, Durgapur, Purulia and the district's blocks. Wholesalers here also supply smaller shops in Onda, Chhatna, Gangajalghati, Sonamukhi and Khatra.
Jewellers, saree and textile shops, electronics dealers, furniture showrooms, pharmacies and hardware stores all benefit from a catalogue site listing categories, brands, rough price ranges you are comfortable sharing, delivery areas and opening hours. Wholesalers can add a dealer enquiry form and a WhatsApp catalogue that shopkeepers in the blocks can browse before ordering.
During Durga Puja, Poila Baisakh and the wedding season, the same questions arrive by the hundred: is this in stock, what is the price, do you deliver? A small site with a festival catalogue and quick WhatsApp replies handles much of that demand without extra counter staff.
Local search in Bankura, in Bengali and English
Google's local results have two halves. The map pack depends on your Google Business Profile, reviews and distance from the searcher. The web results below depend on your website. In Bankura, many businesses have duplicate listings, wrong categories or pins placed in the wrong neighbourhood, so fixing the basics often brings calls within weeks.
We create or correct your profile with the right categories, real photographs, hours and service areas, and show you how to request reviews from genuine customers within Google's rules. We keep your name, address and phone number consistent on Justdial, IndiaMART and craft or travel directories. On the site, each service and area gets its own page, such as Machantala, Lalbazar, Kenduadihi or Schooldanga, and nearby towns like Bishnupur, Sonamukhi, Khatra and Barjora. Our SEO service covers both halves.
Most local people search in Bengali or in a Bengali-English mix, typing things like “Bankura-te bhalo school”, “Bishnupur homestay” or “Baluchari saree price”. Craft buyers in other states search in English. We write for each audience you need. Monthly SEO starts from ₹10,000, and we never promise a number-one ranking.
- Google Business Profile setup and duplicate cleanup
- Bengali pages for local customers and travellers
- English pages for craft buyers outside Bengal
- Consistent listings on Justdial, IndiaMART and directories
- A plain-language monthly report
WhatsApp automation for craft sellers, mills and clinics
A Baluchari seller in Bishnupur may receive fifty photos-and-price requests a day during the festive season. A rice mill office answers calls about rates and dispatch. A coaching centre in Bankura town replies to “fees koto?” again and again every admission season. It is ordinary work, but it eats hours that could go into weaving, milling or teaching.
We build automation for the repetitive part. Every enquiry is saved in one sheet or dashboard. Common questions about stock, prices, timings or fees get an instant reply in Bengali or English, and anything unusual is passed to the right person with the conversation attached. Order confirmations, dispatch updates and reminders go automatically to customers who have opted in.
AI agents can read your catalogue, price list or course details and answer specific questions, or draft replies that your staff approve with one tap. Projects start from ₹40,000. We look at your real routine first and automate only low-risk, repeated steps. Payments, damaged-parcel claims and medical questions stay with people.
Working with us from Bankura, without an office visit
We have no office in Bankura and will not claim one. We are three engineers working remotely for clients across India. With no rent and no sales staff, our starting prices stay below those of a Kolkata agency, and you speak directly to the people building your site.
Everything runs on calls, WhatsApp and screen sharing. After a first conversation we send a page plan, a timeline and an itemised quote. Within one to two weeks you receive a preview link to check on your phone and show your family or partners. We reply seven days a week on Indian time, and small changes are usually done the same day.
One of us leads full-stack development. Another of us handles AI, machine learning, AWS and data work. The third of us manages projects and works on automation and data science. You can reach any of us directly.
Who owns the site, and who looks after it
A common Bankura story: a site was built years ago by someone who registered the domain in his own name and later moved to Kolkata or Bengaluru for work. The renewal lapses, the site disappears, and the business has to start again from nothing.
We make sure this cannot happen. Domain and hosting are registered in your name from the first day, and at launch you receive every login, the full source code and a short guide to how the site works. You can move to another developer whenever you want, with no exit fee.
For two months after launch, maintenance is free: text and price changes, bug fixes, security patches, backups, uptime and speed checks. After that it continues from ₹8,000 a month, or you can contact us only when you need something. Our web development page lists what every build includes.
