A river town at the edge of the Dooars
Jalpaiguri grew up on the banks of the Teesta and Karala rivers, at the point where the plains of North Bengal meet the Himalayan foothills. On a clear winter morning Kanchenjunga is visible from the town. It is the headquarters of Jalpaiguri district and of the Jalpaiguri division, which covers the northern districts of West Bengal, so government offices, courts and institutions give it more weight than its population alone suggests.
The town is about 35 km from Siliguri, and many residents and businesses move between the two daily. Siliguri has the bigger markets; Jalpaiguri has the courts, the district administration, the engineering and medical colleges, and direct access to the tea gardens and forests of the Dooars.
That mix shapes the kind of websites that work here. A tea business needs to reach buyers far away. A homestay near Gorumara needs to reach tourists planning a trip from Kolkata or Bengaluru. A lawyer, doctor or coaching centre needs to be found by people in town and in the district's other towns like Maynaguri, Dhupguri and Malbazar.
Whichever group you belong to, the website must do one job clearly. We plan the pages around that job before we design anything.
Tea estates, small growers and bought-leaf factories
The Dooars tea belt runs across Jalpaiguri district, and tea remains its best-known industry. Alongside the large estates, a big and growing share of leaf comes from small tea growers who sell green leaf to bought-leaf factories. Most of the output is CTC tea sold through auctions and brokers, with some estates and factories now also selling packaged tea directly.
For a factory or estate, a website serves buyers, brokers and packers who want to know the garden or factory's location, production type, grades, certifications, capacity and contact details. It can also help with recruitment and with the paperwork that buyers and certification bodies request.
For small grower groups and factories dealing with many suppliers, the bigger gain is often in record keeping. We can build a simple system that logs daily leaf intake by grower, rates, deductions and payments, and sends each grower a WhatsApp summary. That removes arguments over weights and makes monthly accounts faster.
Brands that want to sell packaged Dooars tea online can start with a store, covered in a later section. Every claim about origin, organic status or grade goes on the site only if you can document it.
Homestays, resorts and tour operators in the Dooars
Gorumara National Park and the Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary draw tourists who stay in resorts and homestays around Lataguri, Murti, Chalsa and the surrounding forest villages. Most of them plan their trip on phones: they compare stays on booking sites, read reviews and then message two or three places directly on WhatsApp.
Booking platforms bring visibility but take a large commission. A simple website of your own, with honest room photos, tariffs by season, what is included, how to reach you from New Jalpaiguri station or Bagdogra, and a clear note on safari bookings and park closure months, lets repeat guests and referrals book directly.
We build these sites with a booking enquiry that captures dates, guest count and room preference and sends it to your WhatsApp. A Google Business Profile with good photos and genuine reviews helps you appear when someone searches “Lataguri resort” or “Gorumara homestay”. Tour operators and car rental services get route pages and package enquiry forms. A small stay can start with a site from ₹10,000.
What a website costs in Jalpaiguri
Jalpaiguri owners hear very different numbers, from a few thousand rupees for a template to large quotes from agencies in Kolkata. Neither tells you what you get. We list our starting prices on the pricing page and explain what raises the final figure.
A static site of up to 100 pages starts at ₹10,000 and is ready in one to two weeks, suitable for a homestay, clinic, chamber or shop. A 299+ page SEO site starts at ₹20,000 and takes three to five weeks. WhatsApp and AI automation starts at ₹40,000, an online store at ₹50,000 and custom software, such as a leaf intake system, at ₹60,000. Monthly SEO starts at ₹10,000.
The final quote depends on pages, features and how much text and photography you already have, and it arrives in about two working days.
- Homestay, chamber or shop site, from ₹10,000: up to 100 pages, Bengali and English, map and WhatsApp.
- Large SEO site, from ₹20,000: 299+ pages for products, services or destinations.
- Booking and enquiry automation, from ₹40,000: WhatsApp replies, logging, reminders.
- Tea or retail store, from ₹50,000: UPI checkout, weight-based shipping, order alerts.
- Custom software, from ₹60,000: leaf intake, grower payments, dealer orders.
Lawyers, chartered accountants and professional firms
Jalpaiguri hosts a circuit bench of the Calcutta High Court, alongside the district courts. That brings litigants and advocates from across North Bengal, and with them a cluster of law chambers, notaries, document writers, chartered accountants, tax consultants and surveyors.
Professional websites need care. Bar Council rules restrict how advocates can present themselves, so a lawyer's site should be informational: areas of practice, courts attended, chamber address and hours, and plain-language explainers on procedures, without claims of success or solicitation. Chartered accountants and consultants have more freedom, but clients still want clarity on services, documents needed and fees.
We write these sites conservatively and in plain language, in Bengali and English. A chamber site can start at ₹10,000, with a Google Business Profile so clients can find the office on the map.
Litigants travelling from Cooch Behar, Alipurduar or Darjeeling for a hearing also need hotels, food, typing and photocopy services near the court complex. These small businesses rarely have any web presence, yet their customers are strangers to the town who search on the morning of the hearing. A correct map pin, opening hours and a few photos are often enough to win them.
For CA and tax practices, a simple document checklist page for GST registration, ITR filing or trade licence renewal cuts down repeat phone calls and brings in clients who search those exact tasks.
Local SEO in Jalpaiguri: Bengali searches and the Siliguri overlap
Most people in Jalpaiguri speak Bengali, with Hindi and Nepali also common. Searches come in all three, often typed in English letters: “Jalpaiguri te bhalo dentist”, “Dinbazar kapor dokan”, “Kadamtala medicine shop”. Because Siliguri is close and much bigger, Google often mixes Siliguri businesses into Jalpaiguri searches, which pushes small local businesses down.
The way through is a complete Google Business Profile, steady genuine reviews and a website that names the localities you serve, such as Dinbazar, Kadamtala, Rajbari Para, Babupara, Mohitnagar or Danguajhar, and the district towns you cover. Our SEO service handles the profile, the pages and consistent listings on Justdial and other directories.
For tea and tourism, searches come from all over India, so destination and product pages matter more than the town name. Monthly SEO starts at ₹10,000. We do not promise first position; we report what is moving and why.
- Google Business Profile category, photos, hours and service area
- Bengali and English pages, with Hindi where customers use it
- Locality pages only for areas you truly serve
- Destination and product pages for buyers and tourists outside Bengal
Clinics, diagnostic centres and coaching institutes
With a government medical college, the engineering college at Danguajhar, a North Bengal University campus and many schools, Jalpaiguri has a large student population and a healthcare sector that serves patients from across the district. Private clinics, nursing homes, diagnostic labs and coaching centres compete for the same families.
Clinics need doctor profiles, chamber timings, specialities and an appointment request that reaches the reception on WhatsApp. Labs need test lists and home collection requests. Coaching centres preparing students for Madhyamik, Higher Secondary, JEE, NEET and WBJEE need course pages, schedules, fee ranges and results with permission-cleared photos.
We build these in Bengali and English, keep them light for mobile data, and set up map listings because most local searches start there. We avoid any medical claims that cannot be supported and any exam result claims that cannot be verified.
Selling Dooars tea and local produce online
More small brands in North Bengal are packing and selling tea directly: CTC for daily chai, some orthodox and green teas, and gift boxes. Customers in Kolkata, Delhi or Bengaluru like buying tea with a clear origin story, and a direct store keeps more margin than marketplaces.
A tea store needs clear pack sizes, brewing notes, the garden or factory of origin, packing date and shelf life, FSSAI details and honest photographs. We build stores with UPI and Razorpay checkout, weight-based shipping, subscription-style repeat orders if you want them, and WhatsApp order alerts. The same setup works for local honey, pickles, bamboo craft and other regional products.
Stores start at ₹50,000 and usually take four to eight weeks, depending on the number of products and how ready your photography is.
WhatsApp and AI automation for stays, shops and growers
A Dooars homestay can get dozens of WhatsApp messages a day in season, most asking the same things: are rooms free on these dates, what is the tariff, is food included, can you arrange a jungle safari, how far is it from the station. Answering all of them by hand while also running the property is hard.
We connect your WhatsApp Business number and website form to a simple sheet or CRM. An assistant working only from information you approve replies with availability, tariffs, inclusions and directions in Bengali, Hindi or English, collects dates and guest details and hands over to you to confirm. Reminders can go out before arrival, and review requests after checkout. For tea factories, the same approach sends growers their daily leaf and payment summaries.
Automation starts at ₹40,000. Another of us, who handles our AI work, looks at your current process first and suggests only what saves real time. Payment disputes and complaints always stay with a person.
Numbers a tea factory or resort owner can read on one screen
A bought-leaf factory's season is decided by a few numbers: how much green leaf came in from each grower, what rate was paid, how much made tea came out, and what it fetched. A resort owner watches occupancy by month, the share of bookings coming direct versus through platforms, and the average spend per guest. These figures usually sit in registers, Excel files and booking platform exports that no one has time to combine.
We build dashboards that pull these sources together and show the answers on a phone each morning: intake and out-turn by week, grower payment status, occupancy against last season, and direct booking share. The third of us and another of us handle this data work, and they start from the questions you already ask rather than a crowded screen of charts.
Dashboards are quoted separately and can sit alongside a website, a leaf intake system or a booking automation. If a simple monthly spreadsheet would answer your question just as well, we will say so.
Hostels, messes and services for the student population
Students at the engineering college in Danguajhar, the medical college and the university campus, many of them from other districts or states, arrive needing rooms, meals, stationery, laptops, repairs and transport. They search in English more often than long-time residents, compare prices online and pay by UPI.
A mess, PG or hostel owner with a clear page showing photos, monthly charges, rules, distance to the campus and a WhatsApp button, plus a well-kept map listing, fills rooms faster than one relying on posters near the gate. Laptop repair shops, printing shops and bike rentals benefit the same way. These sites are small, and a single page with a map and contact options can start at ₹10,000.
Working with us from Jalpaiguri
We do not have an office in Jalpaiguri, Siliguri or Kolkata, and we will not pretend otherwise. We are three engineers working remotely for clients across India. One of us leads full-stack development, another of us handles AI, machine learning, AWS and data, and the third of us manages projects and works on data science and automation.
We start with a WhatsApp chat or call, send a page plan and itemised quote, and share a preview link within the first week or two that you can open on your phone. Photos of rooms, gardens or products can be sent straight from your phone. We work on IST and reply every day of the week, which suits tourism businesses whose busiest days are weekends.
You can contact us here. Bengali voice notes are welcome; we reply in English or Hindi and confirm every decision in writing.
Ownership and two months of free maintenance
Your domain and hosting are registered in your name from day one, and at launch you receive every login and the full source code. You can move to another developer at any point without paying an exit fee. We insist on this because we have seen too many local businesses lose their site when a former helper stopped answering.
Maintenance is free for two months after launch. That covers tariff and season updates, new products, bug fixes, security updates, backups and uptime checks. After that, maintenance continues from ₹8,000 a month, or you can come to us only when you need something. Our web development page lists what each build includes.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
Whoever you choose, ask whose name the domain will be registered in, whether you will get the hosting and admin logins, and what support costs after launch. Open two of their live sites on your phone over mobile data, the way your customers will. Check that basic SEO such as page titles, descriptions, a sitemap and Search Console setup is included.
Be wary of promises of first place on Google. No one can guarantee rankings. For homestays and tea brands, ask who owns the photographs taken for the site, and make sure you receive them in full resolution.
Also ask who writes the words. Many local sites carry placeholder text for years because the owner was expected to write everything. We draft each page from a short call and whatever brochures or menus you have, and you correct the details.
