Who buys websites in Mumbai, and what they actually need
Mumbai is several business cities stacked on top of each other. There is the old trading city around Kalbadevi, Bhuleshwar and Masjid Bunder, where family firms deal in cloth, dry fruits, chemicals and hardware. There is the corporate city of Nariman Point, Lower Parel and BKC, full of banks, law firms and consultancies. There are the western suburbs, where film production houses, ad agencies and startups share buildings with clinics and coaching classes. And across the creek, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Bhiwandi handle manufacturing and warehousing.
Each of these buyers wants something different from a website. A Kalbadevi wholesaler wants retailers in Nashik or Surat to see the current range and call. A boutique CA practice in Fort wants a site that looks as serious as the firm. A production house in Andheri West wants a showreel that plays properly on a phone. A freight forwarder in Vashi wants overseas agents to trust it on first contact.
What they share is impatience. Mumbai customers check a business online in the gap between two stations, and they give it a few seconds. If the page is slow, the phone number is buried or the address is out of date, they move to the next result. Our job is to make sure the first few seconds work.
How much does a website cost in Mumbai?
Ask five Mumbai web designers for a price on the same small business website and you will likely hear anything from ₹4,000 to over ₹1 lakh. The cheapest end usually means a page builder template, no search work, and a hosting account in the developer's name. The top end often pays for a Lower Parel office, a pitch deck and an account manager, with the actual build handed to a junior.
Our figures are public. A static website of up to 100 pages starts at ₹10,000 and takes one to two weeks. A 299+ page SEO website, with a page for each service and each area you genuinely cover, starts at ₹20,000 and takes three to five weeks. An online store starts at ₹50,000. Custom web applications, such as a dealer portal, booking system or internal dashboard, start at ₹60,000. AI and WhatsApp automation starts at ₹40,000, and ongoing SEO at ₹10,000 a month.
These are starting prices rather than fixed packages. A jeweller with 400 designs and no photographs needs more work than a consultant with six services and a ready brochure. You get a quote that lists each page and feature, usually within two working days, and nothing is billed until you approve it in writing. See the full breakdown on our pricing page.
- Static site, from ₹10,000: up to 100 pages, mobile layout, enquiry form, basic SEO. Good for consultants, clinics and small offices.
- 299+ page SEO site, from ₹20,000: service and area pages, schema, sitemap. Good for firms that want Google enquiries from specific suburbs.
- Online store, from ₹50,000: catalogue, cart, UPI and card checkout. Good for jewellery, apparel, food and home brands.
- Custom web app, from ₹60,000: logins, roles, dashboards and integrations. Good for traders, logistics firms and institutes.
Wholesale traders in Kalbadevi, Masjid Bunder and Mangaldas Market
South Mumbai's old markets still move enormous volumes of goods, much of it on credit, trust and a phone call. Mangaldas Market sells cloth, Masjid Bunder handles dry fruits, spices and provisions, Lohar Chawl deals in electricals, and Lamington Road in computers and electronics. Many of these firms have been trading for two or three generations, and most of their new customers still come through references.
The reference now comes with a search. A retailer in Pune who hears your name will look you up before calling, and a thin or missing website makes you look smaller than you are. For wholesalers, a large store with a shopping cart is rarely the answer. Your buyers want to know what you stock, your minimum order, whether you ship to their city, and how to reach the right person quickly.
We build fast catalogue sites organised by category, with a WhatsApp enquiry button on every product, GST details and a clear note on delivery areas. When you add new stock, you update it from your phone in a few minutes. For firms that want more, we add a login where known retailers see their own rates, which saves hours of repeated price messages each week.
Jewellers in Zaveri Bazaar and across the suburbs
Zaveri Bazaar, north of Crawford Market, is one of India's best-known centres of the gold, silver and diamond trade, and many of the jewellers in Borivali, Ghatkopar and Dadar buy through it. Jewellery is a trust purchase. Customers want to know the purity, the hallmark, the making charges and whether the shop has been around long enough to honour a buyback.
A jewellery website should answer those questions before the customer walks in. We build design galleries with real photographs and weight ranges, pages explaining hallmarking and your exchange policy, and appointment booking for bridal consultations. Gold rates change daily, so rather than hard-coding prices we either link to a rate you update yourself or ask customers to enquire, which keeps the site honest.
For B2B jewellery manufacturers and wholesalers supplying stores in other states, we build a password-protected catalogue where approved retailers see designs and weights, while the public sees only a showcase. Online checkout for high-value pieces is possible with Razorpay, though many jewellers prefer enquiry-first, and we will advise on what suits your customers.
The film and television industry gives the western suburbs much of their character. Film City sits in Goregaon East, and production houses, dubbing studios, casting agencies, post-production suites, event companies and equipment rental firms fill buildings across Andheri West, Versova and Goregaon. Around them are photographers, choreographers, makeup artists and music producers who get work through their portfolios.
Creative businesses need websites that behave differently from a trader's catalogue. The work has to be the first thing seen, video has to start quickly without draining a phone's data, and a producer scrolling at night must be able to find credits, rates and a contact number without hunting. Most portfolio templates we see are heavy, slow and hard to update after the designer leaves.
We build lean portfolio sites where video is loaded only when someone taps play, images are compressed properly, and each project gets its own page that Google can index by title, director or brand. For equipment rental firms and studios, we add availability calendars and booking enquiries. You get an editing panel simple enough to add a new project from your phone between shoots.
Finance, legal and consulting firms in Fort, Nariman Point and BKC
Mumbai is the country's financial centre, home to the Reserve Bank, both major stock exchanges and the head offices of many banks and insurers. Around those institutions work thousands of smaller firms: chartered accountants, company secretaries, tax advisers, boutique law chambers, wealth managers, valuers and compliance consultants, many in the older buildings of Fort and Ballard Estate or the towers of BKC.
These firms are judged on credibility, and their websites are often years out of date. A prospective client wants to see who the partners are, what they specialise in, which sectors they serve and how to reach them. A regulated firm also has to be careful about what it says. SEBI-registered advisers, for example, have rules on advertising and on claims about returns, and we keep copy factual and leave compliance sign-off with you.
We build restrained, fast sites with a profile for each partner, a page for each practice area, insight articles that can rank for specific questions, and secure document upload where clients need it. For CA firms, pages on GST, income tax and company incorporation written for Mumbai businesses tend to attract steady search enquiries through the filing seasons.
Freight, shipping and warehousing: Nhava Sheva to Bhiwandi
Mumbai's port history still shapes its business mix. Mumbai Port Authority and JNPA at Nhava Sheva handle a large share of India's container traffic, and around them work customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping agents, transporters and container freight stations. Across the Thane creek, Bhiwandi has grown into one of the country's largest warehousing clusters, serving ecommerce companies, FMCG distributors and third-party logistics firms.
These businesses sell to people who are often abroad, often in a hurry and often comparing several providers at once. An overseas buyer checking a forwarder wants licences, services, port coverage, the team and a way to request a rate quickly. A warehouse operator's prospects want to know the area available, the ceiling height, the compliance and the distance to the highway.
We build sites that load quickly from overseas, service pages for each mode of transport and trade lane you actually handle, and rate request forms that capture the details your pricing team needs the first time. For operators with more complex needs, we build shipment tracking pages, client portals showing documents and status, and dashboards pulling data from the systems you already use.
Clinics, diagnostic centres and coaching classes across the suburbs
Patients in Mumbai often choose a doctor by proximity and by what they find on Google Maps. A dermatologist in Chembur and a physiotherapist in Malad are competing mostly with others within a few kilometres, and in dense suburbs that can still mean dozens of practices. The ones that do well online usually have complete profiles, clear treatment pages and an easy way to book.
We build clinic websites with a page per treatment written in plain language, doctor profiles with qualifications, timings for each branch, and appointment requests that go straight to WhatsApp. We don't publish outcome guarantees or before-and-after claims your doctors aren't comfortable with, and we keep pages consistent with medical advertising norms.
Coaching classes follow a similar pattern. Parents in Dadar, Borivali, Thane and Kandivali compare several classes for board exams, CA, JEE or NEET before visiting any. Course pages with batch timings, fee ranges, faculty and published results do most of the persuading, and an enquiry that reaches a counsellor within minutes does the rest. For classes running online batches, we add a student login for recorded lectures and tests.
Local SEO in Mumbai: winning your suburb, not the whole city
Nobody searches for “restaurant in Mumbai” and drives two hours to reach it. People search for “restaurant near me”, “pediatrician in Mulund” or “laptop repair Lamington Road”, and Google answers with businesses close to them. For most Mumbai businesses, the realistic aim is to be very visible across your own suburb and the neighbouring ones, not to rank across the whole city.
That starts with your Google Business Profile: the right category, accurate hours, real photos, a service list, and genuine reviews that mention what you did. Your name, address and phone number must match exactly across Justdial, IndiaMART, Sulekha and industry directories. Mumbai addresses are long and inconsistent (building, wing, road, landmark, station side), so we fix one version and use it everywhere.
On the website, we create a page for each service and, where you really serve them, pages for areas such as Andheri, Powai, Thane or Vashi. Mumbai searches come in several languages, so we cover Hinglish queries like “Mumbai mein website kitne mein banti hai”, Marathi ones like “मुंबईत वेबसाइट बनवणे” where your customers use them, and Gujarati for trading communities if that is who buys from you. Monthly SEO work starts at ₹10,000, and we report what moved in plain words.
- Google Business Profile setup, categories, photos and review requests
- One consistent address format across Justdial, IndiaMART and Sulekha
- Service and suburb pages only for areas you genuinely serve
- Hinglish, Marathi and Gujarati keywords where your buyers use them
- Schema, sitemap and Search Console reporting every month
AI agents and WhatsApp automation for Mumbai's long working day
Mumbai businesses keep long hours, and their customers keep longer ones. A caterer in Matunga gets enquiries at midnight, a tiffin service in Andheri gets order changes at 6 am, and a travel agent in Ghatkopar gets the same visa questions a dozen times a day. Most of these messages land on one WhatsApp number that one tired person answers.
Automation can take much of that weight. We connect your WhatsApp Business account, website forms and a Google Sheet or CRM so that every enquiry is recorded and assigned. An AI assistant, trained on your price list, menu or policies, answers routine questions in English, Hindi or Marathi and hands anything unusual to a person. For distributors, order messages become structured orders with a daily summary. For clinics and salons, appointment reminders go out automatically, which reduces no-shows.
Projects start at ₹40,000. We begin by writing down your current process and only automate the steps that are repetitive and low-risk. Anything involving money, medical advice or a contractual promise stays with a human. If a proposed automation would cost more to maintain than it saves, we will say so.
Why a remote team works well for Mumbai clients
We do not have a Mumbai office, and we won't list a borrowed address to look local. We are three engineers working remotely across India. In a city where a meeting across town can take two hours each way, most of our Mumbai clients find calls and WhatsApp faster than sitting in traffic between Andheri and Churchgate.
The process is short. We talk about your business, then send a written plan listing pages, features, timeline and cost. Within a week or two you get a live preview link to open on your own phone. You send feedback as voice notes or screenshots, and small changes usually go live the same day. We reply seven days a week on Indian time, which suits shop owners who can only review their site on a Sunday.
One of us leads full-stack web development. Another of us handles AI, machine learning, AWS and data work. The third of us runs project management along with data science and automation. You know who is doing what, and you can message any of us directly.
You own the domain, the hosting and the code
A surprising number of Mumbai businesses do not control their own website. The domain was booked by a developer who has since moved to Pune, the hosting renews on someone else's card, and nobody has the password to change the phone number. When the renewal lapses, the site disappears and email can stop working too.
From day one, we register the domain in your name and set up hosting under your account. At launch you receive every login, the source code and a short note explaining what runs where. You can move to another developer whenever you like, with no exit fee and no request to seek our permission.
The two months after launch are covered by free maintenance: text and price changes, bug fixes, security and dependency updates, backups, uptime monitoring and speed checks. After that, you can continue from ₹8,000 a month, or simply message us when something needs doing. Either way, the site stays yours.
Questions to ask any Mumbai web developer before you pay
Whoever you hire, a few questions will save you trouble. Whose name will the domain be registered in? Will you get the hosting login at launch? Can you open two sites they built on your own phone, on mobile data, and see how quickly they load? What does a bug fix cost three months after launch? Is basic SEO, meaning titles, descriptions, a sitemap and Search Console, included or extra?
Be wary of anyone promising first-page Google rankings in a month. Competitive Mumbai searches are contested by well-funded firms, and nobody controls Google's results. Honest SEO providers talk about the work they will do and the enquiries you can reasonably expect, not guaranteed positions.
Finally, time how long they take to reply before you have paid them. It is the most reliable preview of how they will behave afterwards. If you would like to see how we answer, send us a message through the contact page.
