Har sawaal website par ek page ya section banta hai. Isse do fayde hain: parent ko jawab raat 11 baje bhi mil jaata hai, aur office ka phone kam bajta hai.
Phir teen faisle kijiye. Pehla, domain: school ka naam chhota aur yaad rehne wala, jaise schoolname.in ya schoolname.edu.in (edu.in ke liye registry ki shartein alag hain, registrar se confirm kijiye). Doosra, kaun update karega: principal ka office, ek computer teacher, ya koi bahar ka vyakti. Teesra, budget aur samay: admission season se kam se kam ek mahina pehle website live honi chahiye, taaki Google usse index kar sake.
- Parents ke sawaalon ki list (ek hafta note karwaiye)
- Domain naam aur kiske naam par rahega
- Update karne wala staff member tay kijiye
- Admission season se pehle ki deadline
- Logo, photos aur principal ka message taiyaar
Which pages must a school website have?
At minimum: home, about the school, admissions, fee information, academics, faculty, facilities, notices and circulars, gallery, contact, and an enquiry form. CBSE-affiliated schools also need a clearly linked Mandatory Public Disclosure page.
The home page should answer three things in the first screen on a phone: which board and classes, where the school is, and how to start an admission enquiry. Keep the principal’s long message for the about page. Admissions deserves the most care: age criteria per class, the step-by-step process, key dates for this session, the documents list, whether there is an interaction or test, and whom to contact.
Academics covers curriculum, subjects offered at senior level, co-curricular activities and the assessment pattern. Faculty can list teachers with qualifications and subjects; many parents look at this before shortlisting. Facilities should show real labs, library, playground, transport and safety arrangements such as CCTV or female attendants on buses, only where these truly exist.
Useful extras: a transport page with route areas, a uniform and books page, a results or achievements page, an alumni section, a careers page for teacher vacancies and a downloads page for forms. Each extra page is also another chance to appear in search.
Pre-primary only? A preschool website needs a softer, parent-reassurance structure. Colleges have different needs again; see college website design.
How should the admissions page be designed to get enquiries?
Make the admissions page answer everything a parent needs to decide whether to visit, and put one clear action on it: an enquiry form or a WhatsApp button. Parents compare three or four schools online before visiting any, and the one with the clearest page often gets the first call.
Order the page the way a parent thinks. First, “Admissions open for session 2027–28” with the classes available. Next, age criteria in a small table, then the process in numbered steps: enquiry, school visit, form submission, interaction, fee deposit. Then dates, documents and fee information. End with the form and the office timings for visits.
On fees, schools choose different approaches. Some publish the full structure; some show a range or “starting from” figure; some publish the heads (tuition, transport, annual charges) and give amounts at the visit. Any of these is better than silence, which makes parents assume the worst. Follow whatever your state’s fee regulation and your board require for disclosure.
Keep the enquiry form short: parent’s name, phone, child’s current class or date of birth, and preferred callback time. Send each submission to the admission office email and a WhatsApp number so it is seen the same day. Add a thank-you message that tells the parent when to expect a call.
Notice board aur circulars: staff khud kaise update kare?
Notice board wahi page hai jahan parents sabse zyada baar aate hain, isliye ise update karna itna aasaan hona chahiye ki office ka koi bhi vyakti phone se 2 minute mein notice daal de. Agar har notice ke liye developer ko message karna pade, toh website jaldi purani ho jaati hai.
Hum ek simple panel dete hain jismein teen khane hote hain: title, date aur PDF ya photo. Save dabate hi notice sabse upar dikhta hai, aur purane notices mahine ke hisaab se archive mein chale jaate hain. Holiday list, exam date sheet, PTM ki soochna, fee ki last date, sab isi jagah. Zaroori notice ko “important” mark kar sakte hain taaki woh home page par bhi dikhe.
PDF ke baare mein ek baat: scanned circular ki PDF kabhi-kabhi 10 MB ki hoti hai aur gaon ke parent ke phone par khulti hi nahi. Isliye panel upload hote waqt file ka size dikhata hai, aur hum staff ko sikhate hain ki PDF chhoti kaise karein. Jahan ho sake, notice ka text bhi page par likhiye, sirf PDF nahi; isse Google bhi padh pata hai aur screen reader bhi.
Staff ko training ek video call aur ek chhoti Hindi guide se hoti hai. Kisi ko login yaad na rahe ya galti se kuch delete ho jaaye, toh pehle 2 mahine free maintenance mein hum theek karte hain.
How do you run photo galleries and events without slowing the site?
Organise photos into albums by year and event, compress every image automatically on upload, and load them only as the parent scrolls. A gallery page with 200 full-size phone photos can weigh more than a feature film trailer and will stall on mobile data.
Parents love galleries: annual day, sports day, Independence Day, science exhibition, excursions. They are also what prospective parents browse to judge the school’s culture. But galleries are where school websites most often become slow. Our panel resizes each upload to a sensible width, converts it to a modern format and creates small thumbnails, so an album opens quickly and full images load only when tapped.
Events work best as their own short posts: a few lines about what happened, five to fifteen good photos and the date. Over a year this builds a living record that shows the school is active, and each post can be shared on the school’s WhatsApp groups and social pages.
Keep video on YouTube or a similar service and embed it, rather than uploading large files to your hosting. It saves bandwidth and plays better on weak connections.
Photo selection tip
Choose fewer, better photos: faces clear, children engaged, no one in an awkward moment. Ten good photos beat a hundred blurry ones.
Bachchon ki photos aur data: kya dhyaan rakhein?
Bachchon ki photo ya naam website par tabhi daaliye jab parents ne likhit sahmati di ho, aur enquiry form mein sirf utni jaankari lijiye jitni zaroori hai. Yeh bharose ka bhi sawaal hai aur kanoon ka bhi.
India ka Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 kehta hai ki 18 saal se kam umar ke vyakti ka personal data process karne se pehle parent ya legal guardian ki verifiable consent chahiye (PRS Legislative Research ka saaransh yahi batata hai). School ke liye iska matlab hai: admission form ya enquiry form parent bhare, form par saaf likha ho ki data kis kaam aayega, aur bachche ka data bina zaroorat public na ho. Kanooni sign-off ke liye apne vakeel ya advisor se salah lijiye; hum website ko is tarah banate hain ki yeh niyam follow karna aasaan ho.
Practical tareeke: admission ke waqt ek photo-consent form lijiye jismein parent haan ya na chunein, aur jin bachchon ka “na” hai unki photo gallery mein mat daaliye. Photos ke saath bachchon ke poore naam aur class mat likhiye. Result ya topper list daalni ho toh sahmati lekar hi daaliye. Enquiry form ka data sirf admission office tak jaaye aur website par kahin public na dikhe.
- Photo-consent form admission ke samay
- Gallery mein bachchon ke poore naam nahi
- Enquiry form mein sirf zaroori fields
- Form par data ka upyog saaf likha ho
- Admin panel ka login sirf zaroori staff ke paas
Does a CBSE school need a Mandatory Public Disclosure page?
Yes. CBSE asks affiliated schools to keep a website and publish specified information under its Mandatory Public Disclosure format, linked visibly from the home page. The board updates the format through circulars, so check the latest version on the CBSE website before launch.
The disclosure usually includes general information about the school, affiliation details, documents such as recognition and building-safety certificates, results, staff details and infrastructure. We build it as its own page with each document as a clearly named, readable PDF, a short text summary on the page itself and a link from the home page header or footer. Scanned documents should be legible and not too heavy to open on a phone.
State boards and ICSE schools have their own requirements, which vary. Whatever your board, the principle is the same: publish required documents where parents and inspectors can find them in one or two taps, and keep them current. Your office stays responsible for the accuracy of the documents; we make them easy to upload and replace.
Many schools also publish fee details because their state’s fee regulation requires or encourages it. Rules differ state to state, so confirm with your management or legal adviser what must be displayed.
What update routine keeps a school website alive?
Give one staff member ownership, and fix a simple rhythm: notices whenever issued, a gallery post after each event, a monthly check of dates and contacts, and a yearly refresh before admissions. A stale site with last year’s admission dates does more harm than no site.
A routine that works in most schools looks like this. Every week, the office posts new circulars and checks that the enquiry form still reaches them. After every event, the teacher in charge picks ten to fifteen photos and a short write-up for the office to post. Every month, someone scans the home page, contact details, transport information and staff list for anything outdated. Every year, before admissions open, the session dates, fee information, age criteria and disclosure documents are updated, and old notices are archived.
Write this routine down and share it with the principal. When the staff member who handled the site leaves, the next person has a clear starting point. We provide a one-page Hindi and English guide with screenshots of each task.
If the school prefers not to do it in-house, we can handle updates under monthly maintenance after the free period, from ₹8,000/mo.
School ko Google par kaise dikhayein jab parents “school near me” search karein?
Sabse pehle Google Business Profile banaiye aur verify kijiye, kyunki “school near me” jaise search mein pehle map wale results aate hain. Google ke apne shabdon mein Business Profile banana free hai.
Profile mein category sahi rakhiye (jaise CBSE school, primary school ya play school, jo sach ho), school ka asli address aur phone, timings, aur building, classrooms aur events ki asli photos. Parents se review maangiye, par badle mein kuch mat dijiye. Website par wahi naam, address aur phone likhiye jo profile par hai.
Website ke andar bhi kuch cheezein madad karti hain. Har page ka title saaf ho, jaise “Admissions 2027–28 | School ka naam, Shehar”. Admissions page par school ka area aur board likhiye, kyunki parents aksar “CBSE school in Kolar Road Bhopal” jaisa search karte hain. schema.org ka School structured data lagaiye taaki search engines samjhein yeh ek school hai. Aur site mobile par jaldi khule; Google ke Core Web Vitals mein LCP 2.5 second tak achha maana jaata hai.
Zyada competition wale shehar mein, jahan kai schools ek hi area mein hain, lagatar kaam ki zaroorat padti hai. Uska poora tareeka schools ke liye SEO page par hai, aur monthly SEO ₹10,000/mo se shuru hota hai.
WordPress, website builder or custom code: what should a school choose?
Choose whatever lets your staff update notices and galleries easily, loads fast on phones and keeps the domain and content in the school’s control. For most schools, a lightweight custom site or a carefully built WordPress site both work well.
WordPress is widely known, so a future developer can pick it up, and its editor is familiar to many teachers. The risk is plugin bloat and missed updates, which lead to slowness or hacking. A lightweight custom site with a small admin panel built only for notices, galleries and events is faster and has fewer moving parts, though fewer people know how to extend it.
Website builders are quick for a start, but check whether you can use your own domain, export your content and control page titles. ERP-bundled websites are convenient, yet many are thin, slow or tied to the vendor contract; if you change ERP, the site may disappear with it.
We usually recommend a fast custom front end with a simple content panel for schools, and WordPress where the school already has staff comfortable with it. Either way, hosting and domain sit in the school’s account. Read website banane ka kharcha for how these choices change cost.
Should a school website be in Hindi, English or both?
Match the languages your parents read comfortably. English-medium schools in cities often use English only, but many schools in smaller towns find that a Hindi or regional-language version of the admissions, fees and notices pages reaches far more parents.
A bilingual site does not need every page translated. Start with the pages parents use most: admissions, fees, notices, transport and contact. Put a clear language switch at the top. Each language version should have its own URL so Google can show the right one to the right searcher.
Notices can be posted in both languages or in the language the circular was written in. What matters is consistency: parents should know where to look. Many parents also read on small screens, so choose fonts that render Hindi clearly at mobile sizes.
We work in English and Hindi. For other regional languages, the school supplies or approves the translated text and we build the pages. Parents notice when a school speaks to them in their language, and it often shows in who fills the enquiry form.
How much does a school website cost in India, and what drives the price?
With us, a school website starts at ₹10,000 (about US$150) for up to 100 pages, including admissions, notices, galleries, an enquiry form and a staff update panel. Portals, online fee payment and apps are separate items with their own starting prices.
Quotes from different developers vary widely, and it helps to know why. The main drivers are the number of pages and languages, whether the enquiry form needs document uploads, how many gallery photos must be migrated from an old site, whether the site connects to an existing ERP for results or fees, and who writes the content. Domain and hosting are paid directly by the school to the providers, so the cost stays visible and in your name.
What is included with us: design, build, mobile testing, basic on-page SEO, Google Business Profile guidance, training for staff and 2 months of free maintenance after launch. Not included unless quoted: writing all content from scratch, photography, ongoing SEO, paid ads and an ERP.
For a school that wants to rank across several localities or run separate pages for multiple branches, the 299+ page SEO website from ₹20,000 may fit better. See website ka yearly kharcha for the running costs after launch.
School website banane mein kitna time lagta hai?
Content taiyaar ho toh ek standard school website 1–2 hafte mein live ho jaati hai. Asli deri aksar content mein hoti hai: principal ka message, teachers ki list, photos aur admission ki jaankari jutane mein.
Pehle din hum ek chhoti call karte hain aur pages ki list pakki karte hain. Phir school ko ek content checklist milti hai. Jab content aa jaata hai, hum design ka pehla draft dikhate hain, school feedback deta hai, aur hum pages banate hain. Uske baad mobile par testing, enquiry form ka test, staff ki training, aur domain par live.
Admission season ke hisaab se plan kijiye. Agar admissions November mein khulte hain, toh September tak website live ho, taaki Google usse dekh le aur aap admission ki jaankari samay se daal sakein. Aakhri hafte mein jaldbaazi mein banayi website mein galtiyan reh jaati hain. Zyada jaankari ke liye website banane mein kitna time padhiye.
Worked example: a mid-size CBSE school planning its first proper website
This is a hypothetical scenario, not a real school. Say a CBSE school in Bhopal runs classes from nursery to XII with around a thousand students. Its current site was set up by a former teacher on a free builder, shows admission dates from two years ago and has no enquiry form. Admission queries all come by phone, and the office is swamped every December.
The school decides on a 35-page site: home, about, principal’s message, admissions with age table and process steps, fee heads with amounts shared at visit, academics for each stage, faculty, labs and library, transport routes, notices, events, galleries by year, Mandatory Public Disclosure, careers, downloads and contact. Hindi versions of admissions, fees, transport and notices are added because many parents in its catchment prefer Hindi.
The office head becomes the site owner and gets a 40-minute training call. Photo consent is collected in the admission packet. The enquiry form sends each submission to the office email and a WhatsApp number. A Google Business Profile is verified with real photos.
In this scenario the build would start from the ₹10,000 plan and take about two weeks after content arrives. What it could change is not guaranteed, but parents would find answers without calling, and the office would have every enquiry in writing, with the child’s class and a callback time, instead of scribbled notes.
School ki website kaise banaye: launch se pehle ki checklist
Go through this list before the site goes live. It catches the problems parents notice first.
- Domain and hosting registered in the school’s name and email
- Home page shows board, classes, location and admission link in the first screen
- Admissions page has age criteria, steps, dates and documents
- Fee information published in the form the school has chosen
- Enquiry form tested: reaches email and WhatsApp the same minute
- Notice board works from a phone; old notices archived
- Gallery photos compressed; consent collected for every child shown
- Faculty and facilities pages show real, current information
- Mandatory Public Disclosure page linked from the home page (CBSE)
- Contact page with map, phone, email and office timings
- Google Business Profile verified with the same name, address and phone
- Page titles include school name, city and page topic
- Site tested on a budget Android phone over mobile data
- Staff trained, with a written update routine
- Analytics and Search Console set up with the school as owner
