What does website redesign in Rajkot involve when rankings matter?
It involves more than a new look. A proper website redesign in Rajkot has four parts: an audit of what the old site already earns, a new design and structure, a migration that carries content and addresses across, and monitoring after launch. Skipping the first or last part is how businesses lose enquiries.
Old sites earn things that are invisible on the screen. Google has indexed their pages for years. Trade portals, dealer sites and directories link to specific addresses. Buyers have bookmarked the product page they reorder from. A redesign that changes every URL without redirects throws that history away overnight.
So we treat the old site as an asset to protect, even if it looks dated. Pages that bring visits keep their substance and get a redirect if the address changes. Pages that nobody visits can be merged or dropped deliberately rather than by accident.
Within the BtechWaleTech team, one developer leads design and front-end code, one handles the crawl, redirects, hosting and DNS, and one owns the plan, your approvals and the launch-day checklist.
How do you know your Rajkot website needs a redesign?
When it stops doing its job on a phone, embarrasses your sales team, or cannot be updated. Age alone is not a reason; a ten-year-old site that loads fast and brings enquiries may need only fresh content.
- Visitors must pinch and zoom on a phone to read anything
- Search Console reports poor Core Web Vitals on mobile
- Products, machines or certifications on the site are years out of date
- Only one person, now gone, knew how to edit it
- The contact form silently stopped sending emails
- Browsers show a “not secure” warning because SSL is missing
- Sales staff send PDFs instead of links because the site looks poor
- The site cannot show Gujarati properly, or shows broken characters
If three or more apply, a redesign is likely worth it. If only one or two do, ask whether targeted fixes would be cheaper; we will tell you honestly when they would. Our free website SEO audit page explains what a first review looks at.
Will redesigning my website affect its Google rankings?
It can, in either direction. Rankings drop when valuable pages vanish, addresses change without redirects, content is replaced with thinner text, or the new site is slower. They often improve when a faster, clearer site keeps the old content and redirects carefully.
Google's own guidance on site moves, published on Google Search Central, recommends server-side permanent redirects (301 or 308) from each old URL to its new one, keeping those redirects for as long as possible and generally at least a year, and avoiding the shortcut of sending every old page to the home page, which Google may treat as a soft 404.
Some movement for a few weeks after relaunch is normal while Google recrawls. What matters is the trend over the following months, which is why we watch Search Console after launch rather than walking away on day one.
If your traffic already fell after a past redesign, the damage is often recoverable. See traffic drop after a website migration for the usual causes.
What we usually find on older Rajkot business websites
Rajkot is one of Gujarat's main engineering centres, with forging, casting, pump, bearing and machine-tool units across Aji, Metoda and Shapar-Veraval, plus a long-established jewellery trade and a growing base of hospitals, schools and builders. Many of those businesses put a website up between 2008 and 2016 and have barely touched it since.
The patterns repeat. A single “products” page with a long PDF catalogue that buyers on phones cannot open. Machine lists and certifications that no longer match the shop floor. A domain registered by a relative or a former employee. Hosting nobody remembers paying for until it expires. Contact forms sending enquiries to an inbox nobody checks.
Buyers have changed more than the sites. A purchase manager in Pune or an importer in the Gulf now checks a Rajkot supplier on a phone before replying to a quote, and dealers across Saurashtra expect a WhatsApp link rather than a phone number. Local customers increasingly search in Gujarati, or in Gujarati words typed in English letters.
The good news is that these old sites often hold years of search history on product names. Keeping that history while fixing everything else is the whole point of a careful redesign.
How much does website redesign in Rajkot cost?
A redesigned business website starts at ₹10,000 (about US$150). A catalogue or content site of 299+ pages starts at ₹20,000, and rebuilding an online store starts at ₹50,000. The audit, redirect map and post-launch checks are part of the redesign quote, not a separate upsell.
The cost rises with work you can see in the old site. Fifteen old URLs take minutes to map; fifteen hundred take a proper crawl and a spreadsheet. Rewriting product pages takes longer than moving them. Moving from an old PHP site or a page builder to a new platform adds migration work. Restructuring a PDF catalogue into model pages adds data work. Gujarati versions, if you want them, add another set of pages to build and test.
There can also be a cost of access. If the domain or hosting is held by someone else, recovering it takes time and sometimes paperwork from the registrar, and we cannot launch without it.
Compare redesign quotes on whether they include an audit and redirects at all. Many do not. More benchmarks are on website redesign cost in India and the Rajkot cost page.
The pre-redesign audit: what gets recorded before anything changes
An audit is a snapshot of what the old site earns, taken before anyone touches it. It becomes the checklist the new site must honour, and you receive it as a spreadsheet you can keep.
- Every URL: a crawl of the live site plus the sitemap and Search Console's indexed pages, so orphan pages are not missed
- Top pages: which pages bring clicks and impressions in Search Console over the last 12–16 months
- Search terms: the queries each important page appears for, such as product names or “manufacturer in Rajkot”
- Backlinks: pages that other sites, directories and dealers link to
- Forms and tracking: every form, where it sends, and any analytics or ad tags
- Technical settings: titles, descriptions, canonical tags, structured data and robots rules
- Email and DNS: mail records, subdomains and any services pointed at the domain
If Search Console was never set up, we verify it first and work from the crawl, analytics if any, and backlink tools. It is less complete, but far better than redesigning blind.
Redirect mapping: how old Rajkot web addresses keep their value
Every old URL that has traffic, links or rankings gets a permanent redirect to the closest matching new page. A page about CI castings goes to the new CI castings page, not to the home page.
The map is a simple two-column sheet: old address, new address. We fill it from the audit, you check the product and service matches, and the server applies it at launch. Old addresses with no visits and no links can go to the nearest relevant category page instead of their own match. Deliberately removed pages, such as a discontinued product, get a redirect to its replacement or a helpful page explaining what replaced it.
Then we test. On launch day every mapped address is checked automatically for the correct status code and destination, and chains (A to B to C) are collapsed into single hops. Over the following weeks, Search Console's page indexing report and crawl errors show anything missed.
Redirects should stay in place for at least a year, as Google suggests, and in practice we leave them indefinitely; they cost almost nothing to keep. If your redesign also moves domain, Search Console's Change of Address tool is used for the old property.
Migration day: domain, hosting, platform and email
Most redesign disasters in Rajkot are not design problems. They are email that stopped arriving, a domain that expired mid-switch, or a form pointed at the wrong inbox. Migration day is planned around those risks.
Email first
Business email often runs on the same domain. Before any DNS change we record the mail (MX), SPF and DKIM records and make sure they carry across untouched, then send test emails in and out after the switch.
Domain and DNS
The domain must be in your control and renewed well past launch. We lower the DNS TTL a day ahead so the switch spreads quickly, and keep the old hosting live until the new site is confirmed.
Hosting and SSL
New hosting is opened in your name with SSL ready before launch, so the site never shows a security warning.
Content carried across
Text, images and downloads are moved or rebuilt, with alt text and file names cleaned up along the way.
We schedule the switch for a quiet time, usually early in the week rather than before a holiday, and stay on call that day.
Redesign on the same platform, or rebuild on a new one?
Keep the platform if it still fits how you work; change it if the platform itself is the problem. The decision depends on how often you edit and how large the site is.
Old PHP or HTML site
Usually rebuilt as a static site generated from templates. It loads quickly, has almost nothing to hack and is cheap to host. Right for most Rajkot manufacturers whose pages change a few times a year.
WordPress with a heavy theme
If staff post updates, keep WordPress and replace the theme and excess plugins. If nobody edits, consider moving to static.
Wix or a site builder
Fine for a start, limiting later. Moving to a platform you control gives you full SEO settings and ownership of the code.
Large catalogues
Hundreds of models move into structured data, so each product gets its own page generated from a spreadsheet rather than hand-built.
Whichever route, URLs are planned before code is written. Related guides: Wix to WordPress migration and WordPress vs a custom site.
Website redesign in Rajkot: checklist before relaunch
Go through this on a screen-share before the domain is switched. Each line protects something the old site earned or the new site needs.
- Audit sheet complete, with every valuable URL accounted for
- Redirect map approved by you and loaded on the server
- Titles and descriptions carried over or improved for every ranking page
- Product names and specifications checked against the old site
- Mail records recorded and verified after the switch
- Forms tested end to end, landing in an inbox someone reads
- Analytics and Search Console connected to the new site
- New XML sitemap submitted; old sitemap removed
- Mobile pages checked on a budget Android phone over mobile data
- Structured data valid in Google's Rich Results Test
- Google Business Profile website link pointing at the right page
Adding Gujarati pages as part of a Rajkot redesign
A redesign is the cheapest moment to add Gujarati, because the structure is being rebuilt anyway. Adding a second language later means revisiting every template.
We build the Gujarati pages at their own addresses alongside the English ones, linked by a language switcher and hreflang tags so Google serves the right version. Text is set in a proper Gujarati web font, for example Hind Vadodara or Baloo Bhai 2 from Google Fonts, with spacing and line height tuned for the script. Many older Rajkot sites show Gujarati as images or with broken characters from legacy fonts; switching to Unicode text fixes search visibility and readability at once.
On copy, the honest arrangement: the BtechWaleTech team writes English and Hindi, and the Gujarati text comes from you, your staff or a translator you choose, approved before launch. If your old site already has Gujarati content, we carry it across and you confirm it is still current.
Most manufacturers translate the home, about, product family and contact pages and keep detailed datasheets in English; shops, clinics and schools often lead with Gujarati.
What a redesign should fix on phones: WhatsApp, calls and UPI
The main reason most Rajkot sites need a redesign is the phone. Old desktop layouts shrink into unreadable text, buttons sit too close together, and the phone number is an image that cannot be tapped.
The new design starts from a narrow screen. Contact routes become thumb-sized buttons: call, WhatsApp with a pre-filled message naming the page, and email. Product pages show the key specification first and the long table second. Images are resized for phones, so a page opens on a moving bus rather than after the buyer has given up.
If you collect advances or fees, a UPI QR code or payment link can sit on a dedicated page; full UPI and card checkout belongs to a store build. Heavy PDF brochures get replaced with light pages, with a small downloadable datasheet for those who want a file.
We test on an inexpensive Android phone over mobile data, because that is how many buyers in Gujarat first meet your site, not on the fast laptop where the design was approved.
How long does a website redesign in Rajkot take?
Two to four weeks for most business sites, including the audit; three to six for large catalogues or platform moves. Here is the order, all remote.
- Day 1–2: WhatsApp brief, access to Search Console, hosting and domain, and a short video call
- Day 3–5: crawl and audit sheet; itemised quote within about two working days of access
- Week 1–2: new structure and design on a staging link, with the URL plan agreed
- Week 2–3: content carried across or rewritten, Gujarati pages added, redirect map built
- Pre-launch: checklist on a screen-share, email records verified, TTL lowered
- Launch day: DNS switched, redirects tested, sitemap submitted
- Weeks after: Search Console and 404 monitoring, fixes included in the two free months
The usual delay is access. A missing domain login can hold a finished site for weeks, so we ask for it on day one.
How to choose who handles your website redesign in Rajkot
Ask what they do before designing, not just what the design will look like. A designer who cannot explain redirects is a risk to the rankings your Rajkot site already has.
- Will you audit every URL, and can I keep the audit sheet?
- How will you redirect old addresses, and how will you test them?
- What happens to my business email during the switch?
- Who registers the new hosting, and in whose name?
- What do you monitor after launch, and for how long?
Red flags: “we will just upload a new theme”; no mention of redirects or Search Console; a plan to move the domain into the developer's account; replacing your detailed product text with short generic copy; and any promise that rankings will rise by a set date. Another warning sign is pressure to launch before you have checked the staging site on your own phone.

Get your domain and hosting back before the redesign starts
You cannot safely redesign a site you do not control. Step one is confirming who holds the domain, hosting, email and Search Console, and moving each into your business name if it is not already there.
In Rajkot this is often the hardest part. The domain may be registered under a cousin's email, a former employee's phone number, or the account of a developer who has moved on. Registrars can transfer a domain to its rightful owner with proof, but it takes time, so we start this immediately and design in parallel.
After relaunch everything sits in your name: domain, hosting, email administration, Search Console, analytics and the code repository. You receive a handover sheet listing logins, renewal dates and where backups live. Developers use their own named access that you can revoke.
Our terms are public, and the ownership details are written into your quote, so there is never a question about who holds what.
Worked example: a 15-year-old casting unit site in Aji GIDC (hypothetical)
Imagine an investment-casting unit in Aji GIDC whose site went up around 2010. It has twelve pages, a 25 MB PDF catalogue, a machine list from three owners ago and a contact form that stopped working last year. Search Console, once verified, shows the site still gets impressions for a few casting terms and product names. This example is made up to explain the method.
The audit would list all 12 URLs plus 40 old PDF and image addresses found by the crawl, and note which pages earn impressions. The redesign would keep those pages' substance, split the PDF into pages per casting type with materials, weight ranges and tolerances, and add an RFQ form accepting drawings. Each old URL would redirect to its closest new page; the PDF address would redirect to the new catalogue hub.
Email on the domain would be recorded and tested before DNS moved. Gujarati versions of the home and capability pages would use text the owner's team approves.
At this size the job would sit near the ₹10,000 floor, rising with the catalogue restructuring, and the quote would show each part. Success would be measured by impressions holding or rising in Search Console and RFQs arriving again, not by a promised ranking.
After relaunch: monitoring, free care and towns near Rajkot
The first weeks after launch are when problems surface, so they are covered. Two months of free maintenance include redirect fixes, 404 checks, Search Console review, small edits and backups. From the third month, care is optional and starts at ₹8,000/mo; monthly SEO from ₹10,000/mo is there if you want to build on the new site.
We also check how the redesigned pages appear in AI answers and Google's AI Overviews for questions about what you make in Rajkot. Plain, factual pages with specifications and locations are easier for those systems to cite, which is another reason not to replace detailed text with slogans.
The same redesign process works across Saurashtra and the rest of Gujarat. Older sites in Gondal, Upleta and Junagadh have their own pages, as do Morbi and Jamnagar. Other IT work in the city is on our Rajkot page, and teams in the capital can compare the Ahmedabad redesign page.
