When does an old Vadodara website need a redesign?
When it is costing you enquiries, not when it merely looks old. Age alone is not a reason; the symptoms below are.
- It is hard to read or use on a phone, where most visitors now arrive
- Pages take several seconds to show anything on mobile data
- Content is out of date: old products, old certificates, a landline nobody answers
- Forms send enquiries to a mailbox nobody checks, or do not work at all
- Nobody can log in to change anything, or the developer has moved on
- Browsers mark it “Not secure”, or Google Search Console reports security or usability issues
- It looks less credible than the competitors your buyers compare you with
- Your business has changed: new divisions, new markets, a new name
If two or more apply, a website redesign in Vadodara is probably worth more than it costs. If only the look bothers you and everything else works, a visual refresh on the same URLs may be enough, which is cheaper and carries almost no ranking risk.
How do you redesign a website without losing Google rankings?
By treating the old site as an asset to be moved, not rubbish to be cleared. Rankings live on specific URLs, with specific content, linked from specific places. A redesign that keeps or redirects all three keeps most of the value.
The method has four parts. First, an audit: which URLs get impressions and clicks in Search Console, which get visits in analytics, and which have links from other sites. Second, a URL map: each of those old addresses paired with the most relevant new page. Third, permanent redirects (HTTP 301) from every old address to its new home, tested before launch. Fourth, continuity: titles, headings and the content that earned the rankings carried over and improved rather than deleted.
Google’s own guidance on site moves with URL changes follows the same logic, and advises keeping redirects in place for a long time, generally at least a year.
Even done well, some fluctuation in the first weeks is normal while Google recrawls. Done carelessly, losses can last months. Nobody can guarantee rankings, but a mapped and tested migration gives you the best chance of keeping them.
Refresh, rebuild or migrate: which kind of redesign do you need?
The audit decides. Each type carries a different amount of work and risk.
Visual refresh
Same platform, same URLs, new design. Lowest risk, because nothing moves. Suits sites that work well technically but look dated.
Rebuild on the same domain
New design and new code, often a new structure. URLs may change, so mapping and redirects are essential. The most common choice for Vadodara sites more than five years old.
Platform migration
Moving from an old CMS, a page builder or hand-written PHP to a static build, WordPress or a store platform. Everything from the rebuild applies, plus moving content and media between systems.
Domain migration
Moving to a new domain, for a rename, a merger or a better address. The highest-risk move: redirects at the domain level, plus Google’s Change of Address tool in Search Console.
Many projects combine two: a rebuild plus a platform change is typical when an old PHP or WordPress site is replaced with a fast static one.
Why older Vadodara websites stop bringing enquiries
Many Vadodara business sites, like plenty elsewhere in Gujarat, were built during an earlier wave of web adoption by engineering and chemical units, schools, clinics and traders, and then left alone. The businesses grew; the sites did not.
The buyers changed meanwhile. Procurement teams at large engineering, pharma and petrochemical firms now shortlist suppliers on their phones before calling. Parents compare schools on Google Maps. Patients check doctor profiles and timings before booking. A desktop-era site with tiny text, Flash-era layouts or a broken enquiry form loses them in seconds.
Search changed too. Google weighs page experience on mobile, and AI Overviews and chat assistants now answer many questions directly, quoting pages that state facts clearly. Old sites with text locked in images, or a single long page for everything, give them little to work with.
Local details matter in a redesign. Buyers search both “Vadodara” and “Baroda”. Gujarati is the state’s official language and what many local customers read first. And old sites often show addresses or phone numbers that no longer match the Google Business Profile, which confuses both visitors and search engines.
Step one: auditing your current site before anything changes
Before design starts, we capture a complete picture of what the current site has earned. This is the step careless redesigns skip, and the one that protects you most.
- Google Search Console: every page with impressions or clicks over the past year, and the queries behind them
- Analytics: pages that bring visits, enquiries or downloads
- A full crawl: every live URL, including old PDFs, images and pages missing from menus
- Backlinks: pages other sites link to, often directories, suppliers or press
- Titles, descriptions and headings of the pages that rank
- Forms, phone numbers and email addresses in use, and where enquiries go
- DNS records, especially email (MX) settings, before anything is touched
If Search Console was never set up, we verify it first and work from analytics and the crawl. If you cannot access the old hosting or domain, recovering access becomes the first task. National detail on recovery is on website traffic drop recovery.
Step two: URL mapping and 301 redirects
Every old URL that earns traffic, links or enquiries gets a new home, and a permanent 301 redirect sends visitors and search engines there. The map is a spreadsheet you can see and approve.
Rules we follow: redirect one-to-one to the most relevant new page, not everything to the home page. Avoid chains, where an old URL redirects to another old URL before reaching the new one. Keep URLs unchanged wherever the new structure allows, because no redirect beats a good redirect. Update internal links to point straight at new URLs. Submit a fresh XML sitemap on launch day.
Old sites in Vadodara often have messy addresses: product.php?id=17, pages ending in .html, uppercase folders, duplicate versions with and without www. Each pattern gets a rule, and each rule is tested on staging before launch with a list of the old URLs.
Pages that truly have no replacement, such as a discontinued product with no equivalent, are redirected to the closest category or returned as gone, depending on whether anyone still links to them. The example map in the table further down shows typical decisions.
Step three: moving content, forms and email without breaking them
The visible part of a migration is the design; the risky parts are the invisible ones. Three get special care.
Content first. Text that earned rankings is carried over, then improved: clearer headings, updated specs, better photos. Deleting a ranking page’s content because it “looks old” is the fastest way to lose its position. PDFs such as catalogues and data sheets keep their addresses or get redirects, since buyers bookmark them and other sites link to them.
Forms next. Every form on the old site is listed with where it sends enquiries. On the new site, each is rebuilt, tested and connected to email, WhatsApp or a Google Sheet, so no enquiry falls into a gap during the switch.
Email last, but never forgotten. Many Vadodara businesses run email on the same domain as the website. Changing DNS to point the website at new hosting must not disturb the email (MX) records. We document them before launch and check mail flow straight after. If your email itself needs moving, we plan it as a separate step.
Can I change platform or domain during a redesign?
Yes, and a redesign is often the best moment, since the content is being reworked anyway. Each change adds steps.
A platform change, such as old PHP to a static build, or a page builder to a lean WordPress theme, means exporting content, rebuilding templates, moving media and recreating any features. URLs usually change format, so the URL map grows. For stores, products, customers and order history move too, and every product URL needs a redirect.
A domain change is bigger. Every URL on the old domain redirects to its equivalent on the new one, and Google Search Console’s Change of Address tool tells Google about the move. The old domain must stay registered, and redirecting, for a long time; letting it lapse throws away its links.
If there is no strong reason to change domain, do not. A redesign on the same domain is safer. The national guide on changing domain without losing SEO explains the extra steps.
How much does a website redesign in Vadodara cost?
With us, a redesign is priced like a new build of the same scope: business sites from ₹10,000 (about US$150), SEO websites of 299+ pages from ₹20,000, stores from ₹50,000 and web apps from ₹60,000. Migration work is added as its own lines.
- Audit of the current site: Search Console, analytics, crawl, backlinks
- URL map and redirect rules, scaled to the number of URLs that matter
- Content migration: moving and tidying pages, posts, PDFs and images
- Platform or domain change, if any
- Store data migration: products, customers, orders
- New content or a Gujarati version, if the redesign adds them
A twenty-page site with clean URLs has a small migration line; a ten-year-old catalogue with hundreds of indexed product pages has a large one. Running costs, meaning domain, hosting and email, stay billed to you. National ranges are on website redesign cost in India.
Launch day, the first weeks and the two free months
Launch is a checklist, not a moment, whether the site serves Vadodara alone or buyers across Gujarat and India. On the day we switch DNS, confirm SSL, test a sample of old URLs to see their redirects land correctly, check every form and email, submit the new sitemap in Search Console and inspect the most important pages.
The following weeks matter as much. We watch Search Console for crawl errors, 404s from old URLs we missed, and pages dropping out of the index, and fix each one quickly. Most Vadodara sites settle within a few weeks; larger ones take longer.
All of that falls inside the two free months after launch, along with small edits and fixes. After that, optional care starts at ₹8,000/mo, and monthly SEO from ₹10,000/mo is available if you want to build on the new site rather than just protect it.
Redirects stay in place. Removing them a few months later, for example when changing hosting, undoes the work. We note them in the handover pack so anyone who touches the site later knows they matter.
Should a redesign add Gujarati pages?
Often, yes, if local customers, patients, parents or job seekers matter to you. A redesign is the cheapest moment to add a second language, because the structure is being rebuilt anyway.
We plan Gujarati into the new site map: which pages get Gujarati versions, their separate URLs, a language switcher and the tags search engines use to show each language to the right searchers. Text is set in Unicode with a Gujarati web font such as Noto Sans Gujarati, Mukta Vaani or Hind Vadodara from Google Fonts. Old sites that showed Gujarati as images get real, searchable text instead.
The words come from your side. The BtechWaleTech team writes English and Hindi, not Gujarati, so you or your translator supply the Gujarati copy, or someone on your side who writes the language well approves it.
Industrial units often add Gujarati only to careers and contact pages; clinics, schools and shops usually go further. See bilingual Gujarati-English websites for structure.
Redesigning for phones, WhatsApp and UPI
The biggest single gain in most Vadodara redesigns is on the phone. Old sites built for desktop screens shrink into unreadable miniatures or break completely on a mid-range Android phone.
The new design starts from the phone: readable text without zooming, buttons sized for thumbs, spec tables that scroll sideways rather than shrink, and pages light enough for mobile data. We test on real devices before you see the staging link.
WhatsApp replaces many old enquiry routes. A click-to-chat button on every page, with a prefilled message naming the page, brings conversations into the app your team already uses. Old forms are kept where buyers expect them, especially RFQ forms that accept drawings.
If the redesign adds payments, such as fee collection or online orders, checkout runs through a payment provider you contract with, offering UPI and cards. Small business owners can see more on small business websites in Vadodara.
Using a redesign to improve visibility, not just keep it
Protecting rankings is the floor. A good redesign also fixes what held the old site back.
Technical foundations improve: faster pages and better Core Web Vitals, one clear H1 per page, unique titles and descriptions, clean URLs, schema markup for your organisation, products and FAQs, and an accurate sitemap. Content improves: thin pages merged, product pages expanded with specs and applications, and answers to the questions buyers ask on calls written into the pages.
Local signals get aligned. Name, address and phone match your Google Business Profile exactly, and pages mention Vadodara and Baroda naturally. Google’s Business Profile help explains how to update the profile if details changed.
AI assistants and Google’s AI Overviews quote pages that answer clearly and show facts in tables. A redesign is a good moment to restructure content that way. None of this guarantees positions; it gives the new site a better footing than the old one had.
How to choose who handles your website redesign in Vadodara
Ask about the old site before the new one. Anyone can show you attractive mock-ups; fewer can explain how they will protect what your current site has earned.
- Will you audit Search Console and analytics before designing?
- Will I see the URL map before launch?
- How do you test redirects, and how long do they stay?
- What happens to our email during the DNS switch?
- How will you watch for problems in the weeks after launch?
- Red flag: “we’ll just build a new site and point the domain at it”
- Red flag: redirecting every old page to the home page
- Red flag: deleting old content because it “looks outdated” without checking its traffic

Who owns the old site, the new site and the data?
You should own all of it, and a redesign is the moment to make sure. Many Vadodara businesses discover during a redesign that the domain, hosting or Search Console property sits in a former developer’s account.
We sort that first. The domain is moved or confirmed in your business name, hosting and email are billed to you, Search Console and analytics are owned by your account with us added as users, and the new code sits in a repository you control. A backup of the old site is kept, so nothing is lost if you ever need an old page or file.
At handover you receive the URL map, the redirect rules, every login, DNS record and renewal date, plus a recorded walkthrough of common edits. Anyone who takes over later can see exactly what was moved and why.
A worked example: a pump-parts maker in Gorwa with a 2014 website
This is a hypothetical scenario to illustrate the method. It is not a client story and no results are implied.
Imagine a small manufacturer of pump impellers and casings in the Gorwa industrial area. Its site was built in 2014: hand-coded PHP, fixed-width pages, a product page for each part reached through product.php?id= addresses, and a few downloadable catalogues linked from distributor sites. Search Console shows a dozen product pages still earning clicks from searches across Gujarat and Maharashtra.
The audit lists 140 live URLs, of which about 30 earn impressions, clicks or links. The URL map pairs each with a new, readable product URL; the other old addresses redirect to their nearest category. Catalogue PDFs keep their exact addresses. Email MX records are documented before DNS changes. The new static site adds a Gujarati careers page with text from the HR person.
The scope fits the business-site plan from ₹10,000, with audit and URL mapping as separate lines. After the switch, the free months are spent watching Search Console for missed URLs and fixing two old addresses that only appeared in a distributor’s brochure.
Website redesign for businesses around Vadodara
Older sites are common across central Gujarat, and the same audit-first process serves them all remotely.
Units in Makarpura GIDC, Savli and Halol often need catalogue migrations before buyer audits. Schools and traders in Dabhoi and Karjan usually need smaller rebuilds. The state-wide website redesign in Gujarat guide and the Rajkot redesign page cover other markets, and our Vadodara IT services page lists apps and software too.
Wherever you are, the first request is the same: access to Search Console or analytics if you have it, the current site address, and a note of what you want the new site to do better. From that, a website redesign in Vadodara or anywhere nearby can be planned without risking what already works.
