What do on-page SEO services include on an existing website?
On-page SEO services are the edits made on a page itself so that it ranks for the right search and gets clicked: the title, meta description, headings, body copy, internal links, images and page-level structured data. Nothing about your hosting or server changes; everything happens inside the page and its template.
For an existing site the job is different from writing new pages. The page already has history with Google: some queries it earns impressions for, a position, a click-through rate. Good on-page work starts from that history and tries to improve it without throwing away what already works. Rewriting a page from scratch because a plugin shows an orange light is how businesses lose rankings they had.
Our version of the service is done by developers. That matters when the problem is in a template, for example a theme that prints the site name as the H1 on every page, or a store where product titles are generated as “Product 1234 – Shop”. A writer cannot fix those; a developer changes one file and repairs thousands of pages.
- Title tags and meta descriptions
- H1 and subheading structure
- Body copy matched to search intent
- Internal links and anchor text
- Images: size, format, filename, alt text
- Page-level schema such as Breadcrumb, Product or Article
Which pages should on-page SEO services work on first?
Start with pages that already have impressions and sit between positions 5 and 20 in Search Console. They have proven Google sees them as relevant; they are simply not convincing enough yet. Moving a page from position 11 to 6 matters more than polishing a page nobody sees.
We export page and query data from the Performance report and sort it three ways. High impressions with low CTR point at titles and descriptions. Positions 8 to 20 on a buyer query point at content depth and internal links. Pages with several queries that split impressions with another URL point at cannibalisation.
Pages that make money come before blog posts, even if the blog posts have more traffic. A service page ranking eleventh for “physiotherapy clinic near me” deserves attention before an article ranking fourth for a general health question.
- Service, product and category pages with buyer-intent impressions
- Pages with many impressions and a CTR well below similar pages on your site
- Pages that dropped after a redesign or content edit
- Location pages that rank in some cities and not others
- Old blog posts that could pass links to service pages
Title tag rewrites: how on-page SEO services raise click-through rate
A title rewrite aims at one thing: more clicks from the impressions you already get. Search Console defines CTR as clicks divided by impressions, so a page shown 10,000 times a month gains more from a better title than from almost any other single change.
Google's own title link documentation says it may build the visible title from several sources, including the title element, the main heading, og:title, prominent text and anchor text pointing at the page. In practice Google rewrites titles that are stuffed, boilerplate or misleading. A title that honestly describes the page and matches the heading is the one most likely to be shown as written.
The pattern we use is query first, then the differentiator: a starting price, a location, a quantity, a benefit. We avoid repeating the brand at the front, avoid listing five keywords separated by pipes, and keep the important words near the start because Google truncates titles to fit the device width.
Before (hypothetical)
“Home | Sharma Physio | Best Physiotherapy Clinic Physio Centre Pune”
After
“Physiotherapy Clinic in Kothrud, Pune – Back, Knee and Sports Rehab”
Yes, but less than titles, and not for ranking. Google's snippet documentation says it sometimes uses the meta description when it gives a more accurate summary than text taken from the page; otherwise it writes its own snippet from your content.
So the meta description has two jobs. Where Google uses it, it should persuade: say what the page offers, for whom, and why this result beats the one above. Where Google ignores it, the opening paragraph of the page becomes the snippet, which is one more reason on-page SEO services should write that paragraph to stand alone.
We write descriptions per page, never one template repeated across hundreds of URLs, and we include specifics a searcher can act on: the service area, the starting price, the delivery time, whether WhatsApp enquiries are welcome.
How on-page SEO services restructure headings and copy
Headings are the outline of the page for readers and search engines alike. The H1 should say what the page is about in the words the searcher uses; the H2s should follow the questions a buyer asks in roughly the order they ask them.
On existing pages the common faults are structural. The H1 is a slogan (“Your Health, Our Priority”) instead of a description. Subheadings are styled paragraphs rather than real heading tags, or real heading tags used for design. The one question most searchers have, usually price, timing or availability, is buried at the bottom or missing.
Restructuring means putting a clear, direct answer in the first paragraph, using subheadings phrased as the questions people search, and cutting repetition. It rarely means making the page longer for the sake of length. Some pages get shorter after on-page work, because a 1,500-word page padded with generic text serves a searcher worse than 700 useful words.
- One H1 that names the service, product or topic plainly
- H2s that mirror real questions from Search Console and People also ask
- A direct answer in the first two sentences under each heading
- Tables for prices, specifications or comparisons instead of long paragraphs
- A clear next step: call, WhatsApp, form or add to cart
When does a page need a rewrite rather than a tweak?
Good on-page SEO services recommend a rewrite when the page's format does not match what Google is ranking for the query. If the top results for your target search are comparison tables and your page is a paragraph of company history, no title tweak will close the gap.
We check this by looking at what currently ranks for the main query: are those results service pages, lists, guides, product grids or local listings? If your page is a different type, it is a rewrite. If it is the same type but thinner, less specific or slower, it is a tweak plus added substance.
Rewrites carry more risk, so they are done in stages on ranking pages. We keep the URL, keep the parts that earn existing queries, and add or reorganise around them. A page ranking for twenty queries today should still target those twenty tomorrow.
Internal linking as part of on-page SEO services
Within on-page SEO services, internal links are the cheapest lever. They tell search engines which pages matter and what they are about, and they carry visitors from informational pages to pages that convert, yet most sites ignore them.
We build a simple link map: every money page, the supporting pages that should point to it, and the anchor text each link should use. Blog posts that attract readers link to the matching service page with a descriptive anchor, not “click here”. Category pages link down to their best products and across to related categories. Location pages link to the service they describe.
We also look for pages that receive no internal links at all. Those orphans are hard for Google to find and are treated as unimportant. Reconnecting them through navigation or related-content blocks often helps more than editing their copy. If the problem is site-wide architecture rather than individual links, that is covered on building SEO-first websites.
Image optimisation and alt text in on-page SEO services
Image work has two goals: pages that load faster and pictures search engines understand. Google's image SEO documentation says it uses alt text together with computer vision and page content to understand an image, and it warns that filling alt attributes with keywords is a poor experience that may be treated as spam.
So alt text describes what is in the picture: “Physiotherapist guiding a patient through a knee extension exercise”, not “best physiotherapy clinic Pune physio”. Decorative images get empty alt attributes so screen readers skip them.
On the speed side we resize images to the dimensions they display at, convert them to modern formats such as WebP or AVIF where the platform allows, lazy-load images below the fold and make sure the main hero image is not lazy-loaded, since that delays Largest Contentful Paint. Filenames get cleaned from IMG_4032.jpg to something descriptive. For deeper performance work see website speed optimisation.
Should on-page SEO change your URLs?
Usually not. Changing the URL of a page that already ranks makes Google recrawl it and consolidate its signals onto a new address, which can cause a temporary dip, and links from other sites keep pointing at the old one. We change URLs only when the existing one is actively harmful: full of parameters, misleading, or duplicated.
When a URL does change, the old address gets a permanent 301 redirect to the new one, internal links are updated to point at the new URL directly, and the sitemap is refreshed. Search Console is then watched for the old URL dropping out and the new one taking its place.
For new pages created during on-page work, we use short, readable slugs in lowercase with hyphens, based on the main topic rather than a full sentence. If you are planning a bigger move, such as a new domain, read changing domain without losing SEO first.
How much do on-page SEO services cost per page?
On-page SEO services are best priced per page, because pages differ so much in the work they need. A service page that needs only a new title and three internal links is a small job; a category page that must be restructured, rewritten and given new images is several times larger.
We assign each page a depth: light, standard or rebuild. The estimate lists every page with its depth and what will change, so you can drop pages you want to handle yourself. Template-level fixes, such as correcting the H1 across all blog posts or the title pattern across all products, are one line item because one change covers every page using that template.
Quotes from other providers vary widely, and the usual reasons are whether the price includes writing, whether template changes are possible, and whether anyone measures the result. Ask any provider what exactly changes on each page. Ongoing work across a larger site fits monthly SEO from ₹10,000/mo; our pricing page lists every starting price.
How to measure on-page SEO: before and after in Search Console
Measure each edited page against itself, using equal date windows before and after the change, in Google Search Console. Search Console keeps up to 16 months of performance data, which is enough to compare like-for-like periods and account for seasonality.
Our routine: record the edit date for every page in a change log. After Google has recrawled the page (the URL Inspection tool shows the last crawl), wait at least four weeks, then compare 28 days after against 28 days before, filtered to that page. We look at clicks, impressions, CTR and average position, and at which queries appeared or disappeared.
Seasonal businesses need a second comparison against the same period last year. A school admissions page will always look better in March than in July; the question is whether it looks better than last March. Pages where the numbers fall are reviewed and, where the edit caused it, partly reverted.
- CTR up with position flat: the title and description worked
- Position up and new queries appearing: content changes worked
- Impressions down: check whether queries were lost or search demand fell
- No change after two months: the page may need links or a different format
On-page SEO services for Indian websites
Indian searchers mix English, Hindi and regional languages, often in the same query, and mostly on phones. On-page work has to reflect that.
Search Console on Indian sites can show Hinglish queries, such as a service name followed by “kaise kare”, “price kitna hai” or “ke paas”, reaching English pages. Where those queries matter, we add a short Hinglish FAQ or a line in the copy that answers them naturally, rather than creating thin duplicate pages. Full Hindi versions need their own URLs; our Hindi SEO page explains the setup.
Mobile layout comes before desktop polish: the answer, the price and the WhatsApp or call button should all be visible without scrolling on a small screen. Pages should stay light enough for low-end Android phones. And trust details that Indian buyers check, such as GST number, physical address for local businesses, delivery areas and return rules, belong on the page rather than hidden in a footer link.
On-page SEO for featured snippets and AI answers
The same page structure that helps searchers also helps Google's AI Overviews and chat assistants quote you: a clear question as a heading, a direct answer in the next sentence or two, then detail.
We write short self-contained answer paragraphs under question headings, use tables for comparisons and prices, define terms in a single sentence, and name sources for facts. These passages can be lifted and still make sense on their own, which is what featured snippets and AI summaries need.
On-page work alone does not guarantee a citation in AI answers; brand mentions elsewhere and entity consistency matter too. For that wider work see generative engine optimisation and AI Overview optimisation.
On-page SEO vs technical SEO vs off-page SEO: what is in scope?
On-page SEO covers what is on the page; technical SEO covers whether the page can be crawled, rendered and indexed; off-page SEO covers links and mentions from other sites. The three overlap at the edges, which is why scope should be written down.
Our on-page SEO services include page-level structured data and image compression because they live in the page. They exclude server configuration, robots.txt and sitemap engineering, which belong to technical SEO, and outreach for links, which belongs to off-page work.
If on-page edits are not moving a page at all, the cause is often outside the page: it is not indexed, it is being canonicalised to another URL, or competitors simply have far more authority. An audit tells you which, before you pay for more page edits that cannot help.
On-page SEO mistakes that cost rankings
The biggest risk in on-page SEO services is editing pages without checking what they currently rank for. These are the mistakes worth ruling out before anyone touches a ranking page.
- Rewriting a ranking page to chase a new keyword and losing the old queries
- Repeating the target phrase in every heading and alt attribute
- Changing URLs without redirects during a “quick SEO update”
- Adding hundreds of words of generic text to reach a word count
- Identical title templates across all location or product pages
- Removing text that visitors used, because a plugin marked it as unnecessary
- Editing many pages on the same day so no one can tell which change worked
The last point matters for measurement: we batch edits by page type and date them, so every effect can be traced back to a change.
Worked example: on-page SEO for a hypothetical physiotherapy clinic in Pune
This is an illustration, not a client story. Imagine a two-therapist physiotherapy clinic in Pune with a 14-page WordPress site. Search Console shows the knee pain treatment page earning impressions around position 12 for searches such as “knee pain physiotherapy Pune”, with a low CTR, and two blog posts competing with it for the same query.
The on-page plan would rewrite the title to lead with the treatment and the neighbourhood, restructure the page so the first screen answers what the treatment involves, how many sessions are typical and the consultation process, and add a short FAQ drawn from real queries. The two competing blog posts would be re-angled toward exercises at home, each linking to the treatment page with a descriptive anchor. Treatment photos would be resized and given plain descriptive alt text.
The change log would record the date, and after a month the page would be compared with the previous 28 days in Search Console. If CTR rose but position stayed flat, the next step would be local links and reviews rather than more copy.
On-page SEO services across India
On-page SEO is remote-friendly work: we need CMS access, Search Console read access and a WhatsApp group for questions. The same per-page approach applies in every city.
We work with businesses in Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Patna, Dehradun, Visakhapatnam, Mysuru and Raipur, and anywhere else with an internet connection. Where customers search in a regional language, you supply or approve the translated copy.
Websites selling to other countries get the same service, quoted in USD and paid by Wise, bank wire or PayPal.
