What does a website developer in Bangalore do, and who needs one?
A website developer turns what your business sells into pages that load fast, read well on a phone and make it easy for a visitor to call, book or buy. For a Bangalore business that involves more than writing code: someone has to decide the page structure, set up the domain and hosting, connect forms and WhatsApp, and make sure Google can read the result.
When the BtechWaleTech team acts as your website developer in Bangalore, one small freelance group owns every part of that chain:
- Scope: a page plan built around the questions customers ask before they contact you
- Interface: mobile-first layouts in your colours, with real text instead of text baked into images
- Engineering: clean front-end code or a lean CMS, plus forms, maps, booking links and analytics
- Infrastructure: domain, DNS, SSL, hosting and business email, registered to you
- Launch: redirects, a sitemap and Google Search Console under your own Google account
Who needs one? Any business whose customers compare options online before picking up the phone: a physiotherapy clinic in Jayanagar, a Montessori on Sarjapur Road, a SaaS startup preparing for its first funding round, a precision-parts maker in Peenya answering an OEM's supplier search. A brand-new home business can sometimes start with a Google Business Profile and a WhatsApp catalogue, then add a site once enquiries grow. If that describes you, we will say so on the first call rather than sell you pages you do not need yet.
How Bangalore's economy shapes the websites businesses need
Bangalore officially became Bengaluru on 1 November 2014, when the Karnataka government's renaming of the city and eleven others in the state took effect, yet people still search with both names every day, so a good site uses both naturally. The city is famous for software, but software is only one of several buyer groups a website developer here builds for.
Technology and startups. IT parks in Whitefield, Electronic City and along the Outer Ring Road, and dense startup streets in Koramangala, HSR Layout and Indiranagar. These teams want marketing sites that load instantly, explain a product in one screen and connect to their analytics and CRM.
Manufacturing. The state's Invest Karnataka portal describes Peenya as the largest industrial cluster in Bengaluru Urban and lists industrial areas at Bommasandra, Jigani, Attibele and Electronic City, with sectors from aerospace and electronics to pharmaceuticals and food processing. Suppliers there need capability pages that procurement teams take seriously.
Everyday services and trade. Clinics, schools, coaching centres, restaurants, salons, housing projects and the cloth wholesalers of Chickpet, one of the city's oldest trading areas, all compete for local searches.
Language. Census 2011 language tables for Bengaluru put Kannada first as mother tongue, followed by Tamil, Telugu and Urdu, while English carries most business. A sensible build follows your actual buyers, not a default.
How much does a website developer in Bangalore charge?
With us, a business website of up to 100 pages starts at ₹10,000 (about US$150), an SEO website of 299+ pages at ₹20,000, an online store at ₹50,000 and a portal or custom web app at ₹60,000. Across Bangalore, quotes for the same brief differ widely; the gap usually reflects overheads, who actually does the work and what is bundled after launch, rather than better code.
The things that genuinely move a quote up or down:
- How many distinct page types you need: a home page and ten service pages is simpler than forty unique layouts
- Whether your copy and photos exist already or still have to be produced
- Integrations such as a CRM, booking software, payment links or an ERP feed
- Kannada, Hindi or other language versions of the pages
- Custom illustration, animation or a full brand identity
Running costs sit outside the build and are paid by you directly to the providers: domain renewal, hosting and business email. We list them in the quote so the yearly total is never a surprise. Sample budgets for a clinic, a school, a restaurant and a SaaS launch are on our breakdown of website development cost in Bangalore, and the India-wide logic behind pricing is on website making cost in India. Every figure on this page is a starting price, never a package rate.
How a Bangalore website gets built remotely, step by step
A business website usually goes live within one to two weeks of your content arriving; SEO sites take three to five weeks and stores four to eight. We never visit premises, and nothing in the process requires a visit.
1. Discovery call
A short video or phone call about what you sell, who buys, how leads reach you now and two or three sites you admire. A written recap follows on WhatsApp the same day.
2. Itemised quote
Pages, features, running costs, milestones and dates, line by line, within about two working days. Work begins only after you approve it in writing.
3. Design on staging
The home page and one inner page appear on a private staging link. You comment from your phone by text or voice note, and we iterate before building further.
4. Build and content
Remaining pages, forms, maps, booking or payment links and analytics are built, and your copy and photos go in, compressed for mobile data.
5. Launch
Domain connected, SSL on, redirects from any old site in place, sitemap submitted in Search Console, and a final pass on budget Android phones and an iPhone.
6. Handover
Every login, a screen-recorded walkthrough and the start of two free maintenance months.
Screen-share sessions replace the meeting room: you watch a heading change or a section move while we talk. That usually settles a decision faster than a meeting across town in Bangalore traffic, and it leaves a written trail in the WhatsApp group. Our guide on how long a website takes to build explains where projects usually lose time.
How do I choose the right website developer in Bangalore?
Choose on evidence you can verify in an afternoon, not on the longest list of services. Bangalore has no shortage of developers, so the useful filter is who will build your particular site well and still answer the phone after launch.
- Open three sites they built on your own phone, over mobile data, and note how long the first screen takes
- Run one of those sites through PageSpeed Insights and read the mobile result, not the desktop one
- Ask who writes the code and speak to that person before paying anything
- Ask for an itemised quote and compare line items, not totals
- Get it in writing that domain, hosting and code will be registered to you
- Ask how progress is shown; a live staging link beats screenshots
- Ask what month three looks like: who fixes problems after any free period, and how quickly
Many Bangalore owners have an engineer in the family or on the payroll; bring them to the call and let them ask about Git access, backups and the hosting setup. A developer who welcomes those questions usually builds carefully. If you are torn between a freelancer and an agency, our guide on choosing between a freelancer and an agency lays out the trade-offs, and the page on hiring a freelance web developer in Bangalore covers contracts and milestones.
The best platform is the one that matches how often your content changes and who will change it. We recommend one after the first call and write the reasoning into the quote, so you can question it.
Static site (Astro or plain HTML)
Fastest to load, cheapest to host and very hard to hack. Ideal for clinics, consultancies and factories whose pages change a few times a month; you send edits to us on WhatsApp.
WordPress
Right when your marketing person or front desk will post updates, offers or articles every week. We keep plugins few and test every update. The WordPress documentation helps if your team wants to learn the editor.
Next.js with a headless CMS
For SaaS and startup sites that share components with the product, need preview deployments, or pull content from a CMS the team already uses.
Shopify or WooCommerce
Only when you sell online. The trade-offs between them get a full section on our ecommerce page for the city.
Hosting follows the platform and always sits in your account: static hosting for static sites, managed hosting with daily backups for WordPress, and a cloud platform for Next.js. We steer away from builders that make it hard to export your content or charge yearly licences you do not need, and we say so when your current setup is already fine. For a deeper comparison of two common choices, read Next.js vs WordPress.
Feature checklist for a Bangalore business website
Every Bangalore build starts from this list, and we strike out whatever you do not need on the first call so the quote matches reality:
- Click-to-call and a WhatsApp button that opens with the page name already in the message
- An enquiry form that reaches email and a Google Sheet, with spam filtering
- Locality, landmark and pin code in the footer, and a map for each branch
- Opening hours that match your Google Business Profile exactly
- Service or product pages written as real text, with prices or ranges where you are comfortable
- Booking or appointment links for clinics, salons and coaching classes
- A careers page, which matters in a city where good staff move quickly
- Privacy policy and consent text on forms, with the wording confirmed by your lawyer under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023
- Analytics and Search Console under your own Google account
- Preview images so a link shared on WhatsApp or LinkedIn looks right
A SaaS startup adds pricing tables, signup flows and docs links; a Peenya supplier adds a machine list and drawing upload; a school adds admission forms and circulars. None of these are extras for their own sake. Each one removes a phone call your staff would otherwise have to take.
Should a Bangalore website have Kannada pages?
Add Kannada when a real share of your customers prefer it, not as a reflex. A neighbourhood clinic in Basavanagudi, a school with many first-generation English learners or a supplier to state bodies often benefits; a SaaS startup selling to customers abroad usually does not.
Kannada is the official language of Karnataka and the most common mother tongue in the city, yet Bangalore is thoroughly multilingual. Our team writes English and Hindi. For Kannada, or Tamil, Telugu and Urdu, which many local customers speak, you or your translator supply or approve the copy, and we handle everything technical:
- Unicode text, never text inside images, so Google and screen readers can read every word
- Kannada web fonts such as Noto Sans Kannada, Hind Mysuru, Baloo Tamma 2 or Anek Kannada from Google Fonts
- Line height and sizes tuned so vowel signs and conjuncts never clip or collide
- Separate URLs for each language, hreflang tags, and translated titles and descriptions
- A visible language switcher, with buttons, form labels and error messages translated too
Bilingual sites also need an update plan: when a price changes on the English page, someone must change it on the Kannada page as well. We set up the editor so both versions sit side by side, and we check rendering on low-cost Android phones before launch.
Mobile, WhatsApp and UPI: building for how Bengaluru browses
Build for the phone first, because that is the version Google ranks. Google Search Central states that Google “uses the mobile version of a site's content, crawled with the smartphone agent, for indexing and ranking”. Customers checking a clinic, a school or a restaurant from a cab, a bus stop or a metro platform will judge you on a small screen, often on patchy data.
What that means inside the build:
- A useful first screen that renders quickly on a mid-range Android phone over mobile data
- Tap targets sized for thumbs, and no menus that only work on hover
- A WhatsApp click-to-chat button that tells your team which page the visitor was reading
- UPI payment links or QR codes for advances, deposits and fees when you do not need a full store
- Phone numbers as tap-to-call links and addresses that open straight in Maps
- Forms short enough to finish one-handed
Selling online is a different project: a store with UPI and card checkout runs through a payment provider you sign up with, so money settles straight into your account. Our notes on payment gateway integration explain the setup, and we test every payment path on real phones before launch.
Will a website developer in Bangalore get my site on Google and in AI answers?
A developer can build every technical foundation for visibility, but nobody can promise a ranking. Our job is to make each page easy for Google and AI assistants to understand, then give you the tools to track what happens.
- Google Business Profile: name, address, phone and hours identical on the site and the profile, with LocalBusiness schema tying them together
- Honest location pages: a clinic with branches in Jayanagar and Whitefield gets a page per branch; a business with one address never invents extra locations
- Speed: Google Search Central suggests aiming for Largest Contentful Paint within 2.5 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint under 200 milliseconds and Cumulative Layout Shift under 0.1, and we test against those targets
- Structure: unique titles, descriptions, headings and internal links on every page
- Search Console: verified in your account with the sitemap submitted at launch
AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews tend to quote pages that state facts plainly: what you do, in which part of Bangalore, for whom, from what price and how to get in touch. We write key pages that way. If you want deliberate growth after launch, monthly SEO starts at ₹10,000/mo, and our SEO website developer page explains how larger page sets are planned.
Who owns the website, you or the developer?
You do, completely, from the first day. Domain, hosting, code, content, images, analytics and business email are registered to you or your business, and you hold the passwords.
Ownership disputes are common across the industry: a developer registers the domain under their own name, moves on or stops answering, and the business loses both its site and its email. In a city where people change jobs often, assume the person who builds your site today may be hard to reach in three years, and set things up accordingly.
At handover you receive:
- Registrar, hosting and CMS logins, each with two-step verification switched on
- The full code in a Git repository under your account, or a complete WordPress backup
- A renewals sheet listing every service, its login and its renewal date
- A screen-recorded walkthrough of editing and publishing
- Owner-level access to Search Console and analytics
If a former developer still controls your domain, we help you request the transfer before any new build starts. It is the first thing worth fixing, even ahead of a redesign, because everything else depends on it. Moving a site to a new domain or host without losing search traffic is covered on our page about website migration.
Red flags when hiring a website developer in Bangalore
Most failed website projects show warning signs before any money changes hands. Walk away, or at least slow down, when you notice these:
- One lump-sum price with no list of pages or features behind it
- Full payment demanded before a single design is shown
- Domain or hosting to be registered in the developer's own account
- Promises of page-one Google positions by a date
- A portfolio of sites that no longer load, or that all use the same theme
- No staging link, so you first see the site on launch day
- Reluctance to put the person who will code your site on a call
- Care contracts that lock you in for years on hosting you cannot move
Protect yourself with a written scope, payments tied to milestones you can see and accounts in your name from the start. If a project has already stalled, our guide for when a developer left the project midway explains how to recover access and decide between finishing and rebuilding. Remote work carries one specific risk, communication drift, which we control with a single WhatsApp group, a written recap after every call and a staging link that is always current.
Worked example: a sheet-metal fabrication unit in Peenya (hypothetical)
This illustrates how a project would run; it is not a past client or a real result. Say a family-run sheet-metal unit in Peenya makes enclosures and brackets for electrical panel builders. Orders come from two long-standing buyers and word of mouth, and the owner wants procurement teams at larger OEMs to find the unit and trust it.
On the first call we would agree that the site's job is to answer a supplier-qualification checklist before anyone phones: processes such as laser cutting, bending, welding and powder coating, sheet thickness ranges, the machine list, quality checks, certifications the unit already holds, typical lead times and an RFQ form that accepts drawings. English would lead, with a Kannada careers page for shop-floor hiring if the owner supplies the text.
The quote would start from ₹10,000, with drawing upload and the careers page listed as separate lines. In week one the home and process pages would appear on staging; in week two the machine list, gallery and RFQ form would follow, tested on phones. The supervisor would photograph parts and machines with a phone after we share a one-page guide on light and backgrounds.
At launch: Search Console, a Google Business Profile matched to the site, LocalBusiness schema and every login handed over. During the two free months we would adjust the RFQ form once the first real enquiries showed what buyers ask. Nobody would need to drive to Peenya at any point. More on supplier sites is on our manufacturer website developer page.
After launch: two free months, then optional care
The first two months after launch are maintained free: bug fixes, small text and image changes, tested updates, backups and a look at Search Console as Google starts crawling. Those weeks are when real visitors find the rough edges, so the people who built the site stay on call.
From month three, care is optional and starts at ₹8,000/mo. A plan can include any of the following, priced in your written quote:
- Updates applied on staging first, then on the live site
- Off-site backups stored in an account you own
- Uptime and SSL-expiry monitoring
- A monthly allowance of small edits sent over WhatsApp
- A periodic speed and Search Console review
Plenty of owners never need a plan. A static site for a consultancy may go months without changes, and since every login is already yours, you can call any developer when something comes up. Plan around busy seasons, such as admissions for schools or festive and year-end sales for retailers, so changes are ready before traffic peaks. Our page on the website maintenance freelancer option compares care arrangements in more detail, and the website maintenance charges guide explains what a fair monthly plan should include.
Website developer for Bangalore's suburbs and nearby cities
Because the work is remote, businesses on the city's edges and across south Karnataka get the same process and starting prices as those in central Bangalore.
- Mysuru (Mysore): hotels, heritage tourism, silk and education; see website developer in Mysore.
- Tumakuru and Nelamangala: industry and warehousing along the highway north-west of the city; see our Tumakuru services page.
- Hosur Road and Anekal: factories and suppliers around Bommasandra, Jigani and Attibele, built and supported exactly the same way.
- Mangaluru: port trade, education, healthcare and banking; see website developer in Mangalore.
- Hubballi-Dharwad: trade, education and manufacturing in north Karnataka; see website developer in Hubli.
- Other south Indian metros: for teams split across cities, see Chennai and Hyderabad.
Inside the city, each of our other Bangalore guides answers one question: the website designer in Bangalore page covers look, layout and brand; the ecommerce page covers online stores; the cost page covers budgets. For apps, software and AI work across the city, see the Bengaluru services page, and for the state as a whole, our Karnataka page. Closer in, businesses in Mandya, Ramanagara and Kolar are served on the same terms.
