Website making cost in India: the short answer by website type
The honest answer is a range that depends on type, but every type has a floor. Our floors are ₹10,000 for a static website of up to 100 pages, ₹20,000 for an SEO website with 700 or more pages, ₹50,000 for an ecommerce store, and ₹60,000 for a custom web application with logins and business logic.
Those figures cover design, development, mobile responsiveness, basic on-page SEO, launch and handover. They do not include the domain name and hosting, which you buy in your own name and renew yearly, or paid tools you may choose later, such as a premium email service.
Across India, quotes for “a website” vary enormously. A college student, an experienced freelancer and a large agency may all answer the same enquiry, and each will picture a different product. That is why the first step is not asking “how much”, but deciding which of the four types you actually need. The rest of this guide walks through each type, then covers running costs, GST, hidden extras and how to compare quotes fairly.
- Static website, up to 100 pages: from ₹10,000, 1–2 weeks
- SEO website, 299+ pages: from ₹20,000, 3–5 weeks
- Ecommerce store: from ₹50,000, 4–8 weeks
- Custom web app: from ₹60,000, 6–12 weeks
How much does a static business website cost in India?
A static website starts at ₹10,000 with us and suits most shops, clinics, consultants, schools and service businesses. “Static” means the pages are built ahead of time and served as plain files, so they load quickly, are hard to hack and cost very little to host.
Within that starting price you can have up to 100 pages, which is more than most small businesses need. A typical plan: home, about, a page per service, gallery, testimonials you already have, contact with map, and privacy and terms pages. Each page gets its own title and description for Google, and the whole site is designed for phones first.
The price goes up when you want more unique layouts (instead of reusing a few templates), a Hindi or regional-language version, copywriting from scratch, or special features such as an EMI calculator. The trade-off with static sites is editing: changes are usually made by the developer, which is fine during the five free maintenance months and afterwards through a small monthly plan. If your staff must post updates daily, a dynamic site or CMS may suit better.
What does an SEO website with hundreds of pages cost?
An SEO website starts at ₹20,000 and is built for businesses that want Google to send them customers for many searches, not just their brand name. Think of a pest control service targeting fifty localities, or a coaching brand with pages for every course in every city it serves.
The extra cost over a static site pays for structure. Pages are generated from a spreadsheet or database of services and locations, each with unique useful content rather than copies with the city name swapped. Internal links connect related pages, schema markup describes the business and services, XML sitemaps are split sensibly, and Google Search Console is set up to track indexing. Build time is three to five weeks.
Two cautions. First, thin pages that differ only by a place name can hurt rather than help, so part of the budget goes into genuinely different content. Second, nobody can guarantee rankings; the site gives you the right foundation, and results build over months. Many owners add monthly SEO from ₹10,000/mo after launch.
Ecommerce website making cost in India, and what pushes it higher
An online store starts at ₹50,000 with us. The jump from a static site reflects real extra work: product catalogue, cart, checkout with UPI and cards, order notifications, an admin area to manage stock, and tax-ready invoices for GST-registered sellers.
What moves the figure beyond the starting price is mostly operational. Product variants (sizes, colours), bulk uploads from Excel, shipping rules by PIN code, cash on delivery with confirmation, coupon logic, multiple warehouses and integrations with a courier aggregator or accounting tool each add build and testing time. A store with fifty simple products and one shipping rate is quick; a store with thousands of variants and wholesale pricing is a different project.
Hosted store builder
Lower upfront cost and quick launch, but monthly subscription and per-transaction or app fees continue for as long as the store runs.
WooCommerce
Moderate cost, huge plugin choice, needs regular updates and good hosting to stay fast and secure.
Custom-built store
Highest upfront cost, lowest ongoing platform fees, full control over checkout, invoices and integrations.

Custom web application cost: portals, bookings and dashboards
A custom web application starts at ₹60,000, and it is priced by screens, user roles and integrations rather than by page count. Examples include a booking system for a chain of salons, a dealer portal for a manufacturer, a student and parent portal for a school, or an internal dashboard that replaces a tangle of spreadsheets.
These projects cost more because they store data, apply business rules, and must stay secure. Every login needs password reset, every role needs permissions checked on the server, and every form needs validation. Testing takes a larger share of the time, and hosting usually needs a database and backups.
The best way to control cost is to cut the first version to what is used every day, launch it, then add features based on real use. Six to twelve weeks is a normal timeline for a first release. More detail is on our web application developer page.
Yearly running costs after the website is made
The build is a one-time cost, but every website has small yearly costs too. Budget for them from day one so renewals do not catch you off guard.
The domain name renews every year. Hosting is billed monthly or yearly; a static site can often run on very low-cost or even free-tier static hosting, while a store or web app needs proper server capacity and a database. Business email on your own domain is a separate subscription if you want it. SSL certificates are usually free today through the host.
Then there is upkeep. With us, maintenance is free for two months after launch; after that it continues from ₹8,000/mo if you want someone to handle updates, backups and small edits. Monthly SEO from ₹10,000/mo is optional. All third-party services are paid by you directly to the provider, so you always see the real renewal amounts.
- Domain renewal: yearly, paid to the registrar
- Hosting: monthly or yearly, varies by site type
- Business email: optional, per mailbox
- Maintenance: free for 2 months, then from ₹8,000/mo
- Monthly SEO: optional, from ₹10,000/mo
Seven factors that change website making cost in India
If two quotes differ widely, one of these factors is almost always the reason. Ask each provider how they have treated every item below.
1. Number of unique layouts
Fifty pages from three templates cost far less than fifteen pages each designed individually.
2. Content creation
Supplying your own final text and photos saves money; having the developer write and edit it is real work.
3. Languages
A Hindi, Marathi, Tamil or other regional-language version needs translation, layout testing and proper language tags.
4. Custom features
Booking calendars, calculators, member logins, quote builders and search filters each add days.
5. Integrations
Connecting a CRM, Google Sheets, WhatsApp, SMS or accounting software needs API work and error handling.
6. Performance and SEO depth
Schema, image optimisation, Core Web Vitals tuning and sitemaps take time; skipping them is cheaper now and costlier later.
7. Aftercare
One quote may stop on launch day; another may include months of fixes and backups.
Hidden costs that make a cheap website expensive later
A low quote can end up as the most expensive option once the extras appear. Watch for these patterns before you sign.
The most common is ownership. If the domain is registered in the developer’s name, you may pay whatever they ask at renewal, or lose the address entirely. The second is pirated or “nulled” themes and plugins, which often carry malware and cannot be updated safely; a hacked site cleanup costs far more than a licensed theme. The third is missing basics: no backups, no SSL renewal, no Search Console, no redirects when pages move.
Other hidden costs are quieter: a builder subscription that rises every year, paid plugins renewed annually, a separate charge for every text change, or a site so slow on mobile that visitors leave before it loads. None of these show up on the first invoice, which is why we list running costs openly and put all accounts in your name.
- Domain or hosting owned by the developer
- Pirated themes and plugins
- No backups or update plan
- Pay-per-edit arrangements after launch
- Builder or plugin subscriptions that renew at higher rates
Does website making cost in India include GST?
Ask every provider this directly, because quotes are written both ways. Some figures are before tax, some are inclusive, and the difference matters for your budget and your accounts.
For businesses registered under GST, a proper tax invoice can matter if you plan to claim input tax credit on business expenses; speak to your accountant about what applies to you. What you should always receive, whatever the provider, is a written invoice that names the work done and the amount paid.
With us, the itemised estimate states clearly how tax is handled for your project, and payments in India go by UPI or bank transfer with receipts for each stage. If your own online store needs GST-compliant invoices for customers, with your GSTIN and HSN or SAC codes, that is a store feature we build, listed as its own line in the ecommerce quote.
How to compare website quotes fairly
Line up scope before price. Two totals mean nothing unless both quotes describe the same pages, features, content work and aftercare.
Start by sending every provider the same one-page brief: purpose of the site, list of pages, features you need, who supplies text and photos, languages, and your budget band. Then put the replies side by side in a simple table. Mark what each includes and excludes. Many apparent bargains turn out to exclude content, SEO, or anything after launch day.
Next, check ownership and payment terms: whose name is on the domain and hosting, whether you get the source code, and whether payments are staged against visible progress. Finally, open two or three live sites each provider has built on your own phone. The cheapest quote with poor answers to these questions is not really the cheapest.

Ways to lower your website making cost without cutting quality
You can reduce cost safely by deciding early, supplying materials, and phasing features. You cannot safely reduce it by skipping ownership, security or mobile testing.
- Write your own service descriptions, even roughly; editing is cheaper than writing
- Use real photos from your phone instead of paid shoots for the first version
- Reuse three or four page layouts across the site
- Launch with the essential pages, add a blog or gallery later
- Choose a static site if content changes only a few times a month
- Pick one decision-maker so revision rounds stay short
- Postpone a second language until you see demand
What not to cut: the domain and hosting in your name, backups, SSL, a fast mobile layout and basic on-page SEO. Those are cheap to include at the start and expensive to add later.
How long does it take to make a website, and does speed cost more?
Typical timelines are 1–2 weeks for a static site, 3–5 weeks for an SEO site, 4–8 weeks for a store and 6–12 weeks for a custom web application. Content delays stretch these more than anything technical.
Timeline and cost are linked in one direction: bigger scope takes longer and costs more. The reverse does not hold, since squeezing a large scope into fewer days mostly adds risk. If you have a real launch date, such as an admission season or a product release, say so in the brief and we will plan the scope to fit the date, launching essentials first.
A practical tip: prepare your logo, contact details, service list and photos before the first call. Clients who arrive with those ready usually launch at the short end of each range.
A worked example: pricing a website for a furniture showroom
This is a hypothetical example to show how a quote is built up, not a real client.
A furniture showroom in a tier-2 city wants customers to see its range, visit the store and ask for prices on WhatsApp. No online payments yet. The owner has photos of about eighty products and a rough price list.
We would start from the static website plan at ₹10,000: home, about, eight category pages, product detail pages generated from a spreadsheet, a visit-us page with map and timings, and a contact page. Separate lines would cover writing short product descriptions if the owner cannot, a Hindi version if requested, and a “send enquiry on WhatsApp” button on each product with the product name prefilled. The owner would buy the domain and hosting in their own name. Later, if online orders take off, the same catalogue can move to an ecommerce store from ₹50,000 without starting over.
Website banane ka kharcha kitna aata hai? Simple jawab
Kharcha website ke type par depend karta hai. Simple business website, jismein 100 pages tak ho sakte hain, hamare yahan ₹10,000 se shuru hoti hai aur 1–2 hafte mein ready ho jaati hai. Bahut saare pages wali SEO website ₹20,000 se, aur online store ₹50,000 se shuru hota hai.
Iske alawa har saal domain aur hosting ka chhota kharcha aata hai, jo aap seedhe apne naam se bharte hain. Launch ke baad 2 mahine maintenance free hai. Quote mein har cheez alag line mein likhi hoti hai, aur approval se pehle koi payment nahi hota. Sawal ho toh WhatsApp par Hindi mein poochiye.
Website making cost across Indian cities: does location matter?
For a remote team, no. Our starting prices, timelines and ownership terms are the same whether you run a shop in a metro or a small town, because all the work happens online through calls, WhatsApp and staging links.
City pages describe the kinds of businesses we hear from in each place and what they usually need: Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Kanpur, Ludhiana, Rajkot, Nashik, Madurai, Vijayawada and Guwahati. Local providers everywhere will quote differently, so the same comparison rules apply wherever you are.
Businesses abroad pay in USD, with static sites from US$150; see countries we work with.
