JAMstack website development · pre-built pages, served from the edge

JAMstack website development for fast, secure business websites

JAMstack website development means building every page ahead of time as static files, serving them from a CDN close to each visitor, and adding forms, search, payments or content editing through APIs. The result is a business site with no server to hack or crash and hosting that often costs little or nothing. BtechWaleTech is three freelance developers in India building JAMstack sites from ₹10,000, and large generated SEO sites from ₹20,000. This page explains how it works, what it costs and when a traditional CMS is the better answer.

The short answer

What is JAMstack website development and what does it cost?

JAMstack website development builds your pages in advance as static HTML, serves them from a global CDN, and uses APIs for dynamic features like forms, search and payments. It gives fast loads, a small attack surface and very low hosting bills. With BtechWaleTech a JAMstack business site starts at ₹10,000 and a 299+ page SEO site at ₹20,000.

Our Astro developer page covers the generator we use most, and headless CMS development explains the editing side.

Why choose us

JAMstack vs WordPress vs a website builder

Three common ways to run a small or mid-sized business website, including JAMstack website development, compared on the things owners actually care about after launch.

JAMstack vs WordPress vs a website builder
What you care about WordPress on shared hosting Drag-and-drop website builder JAMstack by BtechWaleTech
Page speed Depends on theme, plugins and caching Decent; limited control Pre-built HTML from a CDN, usually very fast
Security upkeep Core, theme and plugin updates forever Handled by the platform No live database or admin on the public site
Hosting cost Monthly hosting plan Monthly subscription per site Static CDN tier, often free for small sites
Editing Familiar admin Very easy visual editor Headless CMS or Markdown; rebuild on publish
Traffic spikes Can slow or crash without caching Platform absorbs it CDN serves copies; spikes rarely matter
Dynamic features Plugins for everything Platform apps only APIs and serverless functions, chosen per need
Code ownership Yours, on your host Locked to the platform Git repo and CDN account in your name
Hundreds of SEO pages Possible, heavier over time Awkward at scale Generated from data at build time
Starting price with us From ₹10,000 Not our service From ₹10,000; SEO sites from ₹20,000

If several people publish many times an hour or you rely on a WordPress plugin with no API equivalent, staying on WordPress, perhaps with caching, is often the more practical choice.

Pricing

What JAMstack website development costs

In JAMstack website development, the build is where your money goes; hosting afterwards is usually tiny. A JAMstack business site of up to 100 pages starts at ₹10,000. Sites generating hundreds of pages from data start at ₹20,000, because the work shifts to data modelling and templates. A JAMstack store on a headless commerce platform starts at ₹50,000. What moves the quote: the number of distinct templates, whether you need a headless CMS, which API features you want (search, bookings, memberships), and content migration from an old site. Third-party services such as a CMS plan or search provider are billed to you directly by those providers, never marked up.

What is JAMstack website development?

JAMstack website development is an approach where the whole front end is generated ahead of time as static files, deployed to a content delivery network, and connected to APIs for anything that must change per visitor. The name comes from JavaScript, APIs and Markup, though modern builds are less strict about the letters than the principle.

The official jamstack.org site describes it as an architecture designed to make the web faster, more secure and easier to scale, with the entire front end prebuilt into optimised static pages and assets during a build process. It also records that Matt Biilmann and Chris Bach of Netlify coined the term because there was no easy way to name the approach in conversation.

For a business owner, the practical meaning is simple. When someone opens your services page, no server is assembling it from a database at that moment; a ready-made file is handed over from a data centre near them. Your contact form, search box or product checkout is powered by a separate service, called through an API, that does just that one job.

That separation is the heart of JAMstack website development: the part visitors see is static and cheap to serve, and the dynamic parts are small, replaceable services instead of one big application.

How a JAMstack site gets from your content to a visitor's screen

A JAMstack site works in two stages: a build that turns content and templates into HTML files, and delivery, where a CDN serves those files. Dynamic features run separately through APIs whenever a visitor needs them.

  • You write or edit content in a headless CMS, a spreadsheet, or Markdown files in Git
  • Publishing sends a signal (a webhook) to the build service
  • The static site generator combines content with templates and outputs HTML, CSS and a little JavaScript
  • The files are uploaded to a CDN and replace the old version in one step, so visitors never see half an update
  • A visitor requests a page and gets the file from the nearest CDN location
  • Interactive parts, such as a form submission or search, call an API or serverless function

Builds for a typical business site take seconds to a couple of minutes. Each deploy is kept as a version, so rolling back a mistake is one click on most hosting platforms.

Preview deploys are a quiet advantage. Every change can get its own temporary URL, so you review a new page on your phone before it goes live, rather than approving screenshots. This is how we share progress during JAMstack website development projects.

Is JAMstack faster and more secure than WordPress?

Usually yes, for the public-facing site. Pre-built pages served from a CDN avoid database queries and PHP processing on every visit, and there is no login page, database or plugin code exposed to attackers on the public site. A well-tuned WordPress site can also be fast, but it takes more ongoing work to stay that way.

Speed comes from doing work once at build time rather than on each request. The first byte arrives quickly because the file already exists and sits nearby. Pages also tend to carry less JavaScript, especially with generators like Astro that send none by default.

The security gain comes from having fewer moving parts in public. On a typical WordPress site, outdated plugins and weak admin passwords are the usual ways in. A JAMstack site has no admin URL on the public domain; your CMS lives elsewhere, behind its own login, and a compromised CMS account cannot directly alter live pages without a build.

Be precise about what is not solved. Your APIs, forms and CMS still need secure configuration, strong passwords and spam protection. Third-party scripts such as chat widgets can still slow pages. JAMstack removes a large class of risks; it does not remove the need for care, which is why two months of maintenance are included after launch.

Static site generators compared: Astro, Next.js, Hugo and Eleventy

The static site generator is the tool that turns content into pages. For most business sites we choose Astro; for sites that will grow into an app, Next.js; for very large, content-only sites where build speed dominates, Hugo; and for simple, minimal-dependency sites, Eleventy.

Astro renders to HTML and adds JavaScript only to components you mark as interactive, which keeps pages light. It works with React, Vue or Svelte components when you need them. Our Astro developer page goes deeper.

Next.js can produce a fully static site too. Its documentation on static exports explains that setting output to “export” generates an HTML file per route that any static host can serve, but also lists what stops working without a server, including Incremental Static Regeneration, Server Actions, cookies, rewrites, redirects and the default image optimisation loader. So a static Next.js build suits teams already using React, as long as those features are not needed.

Hugo describes itself as a static site generator written in Go that renders a complete site in seconds, often less, which matters when you have thousands of pages. Eleventy is a lightweight JavaScript option with few opinions, good for simple sites and teams who want little tooling. Nuxt fills the Next.js role for Vue teams. The comparison table below summarises the trade-offs.

Pairing JAMstack website development with a headless CMS your team can use

A headless CMS gives your staff a normal editing screen while the website itself stays static. When someone clicks publish, the CMS tells the build service to regenerate the site, and the change is live a minute or two later.

Which CMS depends on who edits and how often. Sanity and similar hosted tools suit marketing teams who want structured content and live previews. Strapi is open source and self-hosted, which suits businesses that want the data on their own server; see our Strapi developer page. Decap CMS stores content as files in your Git repo, which is free and fine for small teams. Headless WordPress keeps the admin your staff already know.

Structure matters more than brand. We model content as fields (service name, short summary, price note, FAQs, images) rather than one big text box, so templates can place each piece correctly and add schema markup automatically. Structured content is also what lets one entry feed a web page, an app screen and an AI assistant later.

The honest downside is the delay between clicking publish and seeing the change, usually a minute or two. For a company site that is irrelevant; for a newsroom posting breaking updates every few minutes, it is a reason to reconsider.

How do forms, search and bookings work on a JAMstack site?

Anything dynamic on a JAMstack site calls an API. Forms post to a serverless function or a form service; search either runs in the browser from a pre-built index or calls a hosted search API; bookings and payments use the provider's embed or API. Each feature is a separate, replaceable piece.

For Indian businesses the enquiry form is the most important piece, so we usually write a small serverless function that validates the submission, blocks spam, emails you and sends a WhatsApp alert through your own account. The data goes where you want it: an inbox, a Google Sheet or your CRM.

Site search for up to a few thousand pages works well with a browser-side index built at deploy time, with no ongoing cost. Larger catalogues or typo-tolerant product search use a hosted search service, billed to you directly by the provider.

Bookings, event registrations and memberships are usually better handled by a dedicated platform with an API than by custom code. We connect it so the booking widget matches your design, and we keep the list of third-party services short, because every extra account is another bill and another login to manage.

Contact and quote forms

Serverless function with spam checks, email and WhatsApp notification, optional CRM hand-off.

Search

Pre-built browser index for small sites; hosted search API for large catalogues.

Appointments

A booking platform's embed or API, styled to match the site.

JAMstack ecommerce: when a static storefront makes sense

A JAMstack store renders product and category pages ahead of time and hands the cart, checkout and payments to a commerce platform through its API. It suits brands with a few hundred to a few thousand products who want very fast pages and full design control.

The static layer gives quick product pages that hold up during sale-day traffic. The commerce back end keeps doing what it is good at: inventory, orders, taxes, UPI and card checkout, shipping integrations. Headless Shopify is the most common pairing we build; our headless Shopify development page explains that setup.

Stock levels and prices change often, so we fetch those live on the product page or rebuild affected pages when they change, rather than showing stale numbers. Checkout always runs on the commerce platform's secure pages or components, never re-implemented by hand.

It is not always the right call. A small shop with a few dozen products and no designer usually gets more value from a standard hosted store theme, set up well, at lower cost. We recommend headless only when speed, design freedom or content-heavy product storytelling justify the extra build. JAMstack stores start at ₹50,000.

What does JAMstack hosting cost?

For a typical small business site, JAMstack hosting often costs nothing on a CDN platform's free tier, and paid tiers stay modest as traffic grows. The bills that matter are usually third-party services such as a paid CMS plan or hosted search, not the hosting itself.

As a concrete reference, Cloudflare's documentation for Pages lists 500 builds per month and up to 20,000 files per site on its Free plan, with a single asset limited to 25 MiB. A 40-page company site that updates a few times a week sits comfortably inside limits like those. Other static hosts, such as Netlify, Vercel and GitHub Pages, offer their own free and paid tiers with different limits, which we check against your site before choosing.

Costs rise in three situations: very frequent builds (for example, a site rebuilding on every stock change), serverless functions handling heavy traffic, and large media such as video, which is better served from a video platform. We estimate these during planning so there are no surprises.

The hosting account is opened in your name. You add us as a team member; we never host your site on our own account and bill you for it.

How much does JAMstack website development cost in India?

With us, JAMstack website development starts at ₹10,000 (about US$150) for a business site of up to 100 pages, ₹20,000 for a data-driven site of 299+ pages, and ₹50,000 for a JAMstack store. Quotes from other developers vary widely, largely depending on how much of the list below they include.

The drivers are predictable. Distinct templates: each unique layout is designed and built once. Content source: Markdown is cheapest, a headless CMS adds setup and editor training. Dynamic features: forms are simple, while bookings, memberships and search add integration work. Migration: moving hundreds of posts from an old site, with redirects, takes real effort. Design: working from a finished Figma file is faster than designing from scratch.

Ongoing costs are low. The first two months of maintenance are free; afterwards, care starts at ₹8,000/mo a month for dependency updates, CMS changes and small edits. Hosting is often free or low-cost, and any CMS or search subscription is paid directly to the provider.

Payment is by UPI or bank transfer in India, or in USD by Wise, wire or PayPal for clients abroad, in milestones you approve. See the full pricing page for every plan.

When is JAMstack the wrong choice?

JAMstack is the wrong choice when most pages are personalised per user, when content changes every few seconds, or when your business depends on a plugin ecosystem you cannot replace with APIs. In those cases a server-rendered app or a traditional CMS serves you better.

  • Logged-in dashboards where every screen differs per user: build a web app instead
  • Live data such as trading prices or sports scores updating constantly
  • Community sites with heavy user posting, comments and profiles
  • Newsrooms publishing many times an hour with no tolerance for build delay
  • Teams deeply tied to WordPress plugins for events, LMS or memberships
  • Owners who want to drag and drop layouts daily with no developer involved

Mixed cases are common. Many businesses run a JAMstack marketing site on the main domain and a separate web app on a subdomain for customers. That split lets each part use the right tool; our web application developer page covers the app side, with custom builds from ₹60,000.

Frameworks such as Next.js and Astro also blur the line by letting some pages render on a server while others stay static. We choose per page, not by ideology.

Is JAMstack good for SEO and AI search visibility?

Yes. Search engines receive complete HTML on the first request, pages load quickly, and titles, meta descriptions, canonical tags and structured data are generated consistently from templates. JAMstack does not rank you by itself, but it removes common technical barriers.

Google's Core Web Vitals guidance on web.dev sets good thresholds of a Largest Contentful Paint within 2.5 seconds, an Interaction to Next Paint of 200 milliseconds or less, and a Cumulative Layout Shift of 0.1 or less, measured at the 75th percentile of page loads. Pre-rendered pages with little JavaScript have a head start on all three, though heavy images or third-party scripts can still spoil the numbers.

For large sites, JAMstack website development shines at programmatic pages: service-by-city or product-by-use pages generated from structured data, each with unique content, internal links and an entry in the XML sitemap. We add a rule that only genuinely distinct pages get generated, because near-identical pages help nobody.

AI answer engines favour pages with clear headings, short self-contained answers, FAQs and schema markup, all of which templates can produce reliably. Nobody can guarantee rankings; if organic growth is the goal, pair the build with our SEO services from ₹10,000/mo a month.

Moving an existing WordPress site to JAMstack without losing traffic

You move a WordPress site to JAMstack by exporting content, rebuilding templates in a static site generator, keeping every URL or redirecting it permanently, and checking Search Console after launch. WordPress can also stay as the editing back end if your team is attached to it.

Our sequence: crawl the current site to list every URL, including images and PDFs that other sites link to; export posts, pages and media; clean up content formatting left behind by page builders; rebuild templates; generate a redirect map for any URL that changes; and compare titles and meta descriptions page by page before switching DNS.

Shortcodes and page-builder markup are the fiddly part. They do not mean anything outside WordPress, so each one is converted into a proper component or plain content during the move.

After launch we watch Google Search Console for crawl errors and coverage changes over the following weeks. If traffic dips after a migration you did elsewhere, our traffic drop after website migration page explains how we diagnose it.

Who owns a JAMstack site: repo, CDN, CMS and API keys

You should own every account a JAMstack site depends on: the Git repository, the hosting or CDN account, the domain and DNS, the headless CMS, and any API services. Because a JAMstack site is spread across several services, ownership needs a written list, not just a verbal assurance.

We create or transfer each account into your name and join as a collaborator. The handover document lists every service, what it does, which plan you are on, who pays for it and where its API keys are stored. Secrets live in the hosting platform's environment settings, never inside the code.

This matters because JAMstack sites are easy to move. With the repo and a list of services, another developer can rebuild and redeploy your site on a different host in an afternoon. That portability is a real advantage over builders that lock you in.

Two months of maintenance are included after launch, covering fixes and small adjustments. Beyond that, care from ₹8,000/mo a month keeps dependencies and integrations current; bigger additions are quoted before any work starts.

JAMstack website development for businesses across India

We build JAMstack sites remotely for clients across India, with calls in English or Hindi, UPI or bank transfer payments, and GST details on invoices where applicable. Your city does not change the price.

Different cities bring different needs. Tour operators and homestays in Kochi and Udaipur want image-rich itinerary pages that stay quick on mobile data. Multi-branch clinics in Nagpur and Bhubaneswar want a page per doctor and locality. Exporters in Ludhiana and Rajkot want product catalogues that load fast for buyers overseas. Startups in Bengaluru and Hyderabad want marketing sites and docs separate from their apps, and real-estate brokers in Mohali and Visakhapatnam want project pages that survive launch-day traffic.

Businesses outside India work with us the same way, billed in USD; see hiring Indian developers for working hours.

Worked example: a tour operator's site rebuilt as JAMstack

This example is hypothetical, meant only to show how JAMstack website development is scoped. Say a tour operator in Kochi runs a slow WordPress site with 30 tour pages, 60 blog posts and a booking enquiry form, on shared hosting that went down during a festival-season promotion.

The plan: Astro as the generator, with tours and blog posts modelled as structured content in a headless CMS so the owner's staff can update prices, dates and photos. Each tour page gets an itinerary section, inclusions, FAQs with schema markup, and an enquiry form posting to a serverless function that emails the team and sends a WhatsApp alert.

Old WordPress URLs are mapped one to one; the handful that change get permanent redirects. Images are resized into modern formats at build time so the photo-heavy pages stay fast on phones. The site deploys to a static CDN tier opened in the operator's name.

With about 90 pages and six templates, the build falls within the static plan starting at ₹10,000. The CMS may have its own plan if the team outgrows the free tier, paid directly by the operator. After two free months of maintenance, care from ₹8,000/mo a month is optional. A festival traffic spike becomes the CDN's problem, not the operator's.

JAMstack website development checklist before launch

Run through this list before any JAMstack site goes live. It catches the issues we see most often when inheriting sites built elsewhere.

  • Every old URL returns the new page or a permanent redirect
  • Forms tested end to end, including spam protection and notifications
  • Publishing in the CMS triggers a build and updates the live page
  • Environment variables and API keys stored in hosting settings, not code
  • Custom 404 page with useful links
  • Titles, meta descriptions, canonical tags and structured data on every template
  • XML sitemap generated and submitted in Google Search Console
  • Images sized, compressed and given width, height and alt text
  • Analytics and consent handled without blocking page rendering
  • All accounts (repo, CDN, CMS, domain) owned by you and documented

We share this checklist with results before launch, so you can see what was checked rather than taking it on trust.

How it works

How JAMstack website development runs with us

  1. Share your site and goals

Send your current site or a list of pages, who will edit content, and which features you need, such as forms, search, bookings or a store.

  2. Architecture and quote

We pick the generator, CMS and services, list every account you will own, and send an itemised quote in about two working days.

  3. Content model and first template

We define content fields, set up the CMS and build the most important template on a preview URL for you to test on your phone.

  4. Build templates and integrations

Remaining templates, forms, search and any commerce or booking APIs are added, each change on its own preview link.

  5. Migrate, redirect and test

Old content moves across, redirects are mapped, and forms, builds, SEO tags and speed are checked against the launch checklist.

  6. Launch and hand over

DNS switches to your CDN account, Search Console is updated, the handover document is shared, and two free months of maintenance begin.

Questions

JAMstack website development: frequently asked questions

What is JAMstack in simple words?

JAMstack is a way of building websites where every page is prepared in advance as a ready-made file and delivered from servers around the world, instead of being assembled from a database each time someone visits. Anything that must change per visitor, such as a form or a search box, is handled by a separate online service through an API.

How much does JAMstack website development cost in India?

With BtechWaleTech, a JAMstack business site of up to 100 pages starts at ₹10,000, a data-driven SEO site of 299+ pages at ₹20,000, and a JAMstack store at ₹50,000. The final quote depends on templates, CMS needs, dynamic features and content migration. Hosting is usually free or low-cost afterwards, and the first two months of maintenance are included.

How long does it take to build a JAMstack website?

JAMstack website development for a business site of up to 100 pages typically takes one to two weeks once content is ready. A data-driven SEO site with hundreds of pages takes three to five weeks, and a JAMstack store four to eight weeks. Migrating a large amount of content from an old site, or complex integrations, can add time, which the quote will show.

Is JAMstack better than WordPress?

For many business sites, JAMstack website development produces something faster, more secure and cheaper to host, because pages are pre-built and there is no public admin or database. WordPress is better when several people publish constantly, when you depend on specific plugins, or when you want a familiar all-in-one admin. You can also combine them by using WordPress as a headless CMS.

Can I edit a JAMstack website myself?

Yes. We connect a headless CMS so you edit text, images, prices and pages in a simple admin screen. When you click publish, the site rebuilds automatically and your change goes live within a minute or two. For small teams comfortable with it, content can also live in Markdown files, which avoids CMS fees altogether.

How much does JAMstack hosting cost?

Often nothing for small business sites. CDN platforms offer free tiers; for example, Cloudflare's Pages documentation lists 500 builds a month and up to 20,000 files per site on its Free plan. Costs grow only with very frequent builds, heavy serverless function use or large media files. Paid CMS or search plans, if needed, are billed by those providers directly.

Is a JAMstack website good for SEO?

Yes. Search engines get complete HTML immediately, pages usually load fast, and meta tags, canonical links, sitemaps and structured data come consistently from templates. That removes many technical barriers, but rankings still depend on content quality, relevance and links. Nobody can honestly guarantee rankings, and a fast site with thin content will not rank well.

Does JAMstack help with AI search and AI Overviews?

Indirectly. AI answer engines read your page text and structure, so fast pages with clean headings, concise answers, FAQs and schema markup are easier for them to understand and quote. A JAMstack build makes that structure consistent across every page, but visibility in AI answers ultimately depends on whether your content genuinely answers the questions people ask.

How do contact forms work on a static website?

The form sends its data to a small serverless function or a form service instead of a traditional server. We usually write a function that validates the entry, filters spam, emails you and sends a WhatsApp alert, then stores the lead in a Google Sheet or CRM if you want. It costs little or nothing to run at normal enquiry volumes.

Can I run an online store on JAMstack?

Yes. Product and category pages are pre-built for speed, while a headless commerce platform handles the cart, inventory, orders and UPI or card checkout. It suits brands wanting fast pages and full design control. For a small shop without a designer, a standard hosted store is often simpler and cheaper. JAMstack stores with us start at ₹50,000.

When should I not use JAMstack?

Avoid it for sites where most pages are personalised per logged-in user, where data changes every few seconds, where users post lots of content, or where your business relies on WordPress plugins with no API equivalent. In those cases a web application or traditional CMS fits better. Many businesses mix both: a static marketing site plus a separate app.

Which static site generator do you use?

For JAMstack website development we use Astro for most business and content sites because it ships very little JavaScript. Next.js when the site may grow into an application or your team already uses React. Hugo for very large content sites where build speed matters, and Eleventy for simple sites with minimal tooling. We choose based on your content, team and future plans rather than habit.

Can you convert my WordPress site to JAMstack?

Yes. We export your posts, pages and media, rebuild the design as static templates, keep every URL or redirect it permanently, and check Search Console after launch. WordPress can stay as your editing back end if your team likes it, or content can move to a different headless CMS. Page-builder shortcodes are converted into proper components during the move.

Is a JAMstack site really more secure?

It removes the most common attack routes for small business sites: there is no public login page, database or plugin code on the live site. The CMS, forms and APIs still need strong passwords, sensible permissions and spam protection, and third-party scripts still need care. It is a big reduction in risk, not a promise that nothing can ever go wrong.

What happens if the site gets a sudden traffic spike?

A CDN serves copies of your pages from many locations, so a spike from an ad campaign, a festival sale or a news mention rarely causes problems. The parts that could strain are dynamic features such as serverless forms or search, which we size for expected peaks. Your pages stay available even if a third-party widget has a bad day.

Who owns the JAMstack website and accounts?

You do. The repository, CDN hosting account, domain, CMS and any API services are opened in your name or transferred to you, and we join as collaborators you can remove. The handover document lists every service, its purpose, plan and billing, so another developer could take over or move the site to a different host easily.

What maintenance does a JAMstack site need?

Less than WordPress, but not zero. Dependencies and the generator need occasional updates, CMS or API changes can break builds, and forms need spam monitoring. The first two months after launch are free; afterwards, care plans start at ₹8,000/mo a month, with scope written into your quote before you commit.

Freelancer or agency for a JAMstack website?

For most JAMstack website development projects, a small freelance team is enough: you speak directly to the developers building the site, decisions are quick and there is no layer of account managers. A large agency suits big programmes with brand strategy, content teams and many stakeholders. We do not offer on-site meetings or large dedicated teams.

How do payments and contracts work?

You receive an itemised quote in about two working days, and nothing is billed until you approve it in writing. Indian clients pay by UPI or bank transfer; international clients pay in USD via Wise, wire or PayPal, in milestones tied to preview links you can check. Any confidentiality terms are agreed in the quote, with our published terms covering the rest.

JAMstack website kya hota hai aur kiske liye sahi hai?

JAMstack website mein saare pages pehle se ready files ke roop mein ban jaate hain aur CDN se turant khulte hain, database ya server ka jhanjhat nahi hota. Company site, service pages, blog aur catalogue ke liye yeh bahut sahi hai. Agar har user ko alag dashboard dikhana hai, to web app better rahega. WhatsApp par apni requirement bhejiye.
