What does the SEO audit cost in India actually buy you?
The SEO audit cost in India buys analyst hours: time spent reading your data, crawling your pages, working out why Google treats them the way it does, and writing a fix list your team can act on. Tools make the crawl fast, but the judgement is what you pay for.
A cheap report and a proper audit can both be twenty pages long. The difference is what sits behind each line. A tool can flag that 400 pages have duplicate titles; an analyst tells you those 400 pages are filtered category URLs that should not be indexed at all, so the real fix is a canonical and a noindex rule, not 400 new titles.
At BtechWaleTech, another of us leads audits on the technical SEO and data side, one of us reviews anything that needs code changes, and the third of us turns findings into a prioritised task list with owners and effort estimates. You talk to all three directly on WhatsApp or a call.
- Reading your Search Console performance history
- A crawl of your site as Googlebot sees it
- Indexing, canonical and redirect review
- Speed from real-user data, then the templates causing slowness
- Structured data checks against Google’s documentation
- Search intent and content gap review for your money pages
- A ranked fix list and a walkthrough call
Why SEO audit cost in India varies so much
Quotes for an SEO audit in India vary widely because the word “audit” covers everything from a free automated scan to weeks of expert analysis. The honest drivers are site size, number of templates, platform complexity, and how much diagnosis your symptom needs.
Templates matter more than raw page count. A 5,000-page blog built on three templates can be cheaper to audit than a 300-page site with forty custom layouts, because each template usually shares the same problems. We audit a template once and sample its pages, rather than billing you for every URL.
Platform changes the work too. A WordPress site brings plugin conflicts and theme bloat; Shopify brings duplicate collection paths; a JavaScript-rendered React site needs rendering checks that a plain HTML site does not. A migration audit needs old URL lists and redirect maps, which adds hours.
Pushes the quote up
Thousands of product or listing URLs, faceted filters, multiple languages, JavaScript rendering, a recent migration, or a request for competitor and backlink analysis.
Keeps the quote down
Few templates, access to Search Console from day one, a clear single symptom, and a platform with sane defaults such as a well-built static or Next.js site.
Free SEO audit tool report vs expert audit: is paying worth it?
A free tool report is worth running first; an expert audit is worth paying for when traffic, rankings or leads stay stuck after you fix what the tool found. The two do different jobs, so the real question is when you have outgrown the free one.
Free crawlers and browser extensions spot missing titles, broken links, oversized images and missing alt text in minutes. Google’s own free tools go further: Search Console shows which pages are indexed, which searches bring impressions, and whether your pages pass Core Web Vitals.
What free reports cannot do is judge. They cannot tell whether a thin page should be merged, improved or deleted, whether a ranking loss came from a core update or a broken template, or which five of three hundred warnings actually cost you customers. That judgement is the part of the SEO audit cost in India you are really paying for.
We wrote a separate guide on running a free website SEO audit yourself. Do that first; if it answers your question, you have saved the fee.
Crawl and indexing checks: the first thing a paid audit should cover
Every serious audit starts by confirming Google can reach, render and index the pages that earn you money. If your key pages are not in the index, no amount of content or link work will help, so this part of the audit usually delivers the fastest wins.
We compare three lists: the URLs in your sitemap, the URLs our crawler finds by following links, and the URLs Google reports in the Page indexing report of Search Console. Pages that exist in one list but not the others point to orphan pages, stray parameter URLs, or sitemaps full of redirects.
Google’s Search Console help is clear that you should not expect every URL on a site to be indexed, only the canonical pages. So the goal is not a perfect number; it is making sure the pages that matter are indexed and the junk is not. Common findings include “Duplicate without user-selected canonical” on filtered URLs, and service pages stuck as “Discovered – currently not indexed” because nothing links to them.
One mistake shows up often: blocking a page in robots.txt to remove it from Google. Google’s documentation states that robots.txt “is not a mechanism for keeping a web page out of Google”; a noindex tag or password protection is the right tool. A good audit catches this before it causes a leak or a lost page.
How are Core Web Vitals checked in an SEO audit?
A proper audit reads Core Web Vitals from field data first, meaning what real visitors on real phones experienced, and only then runs lab tests to find the cause. A lab score from a fast laptop on office Wi-Fi tells you little about a buyer on a budget Android phone in a Tier-3 town.
Google’s web.dev guidance lists three metrics. Loading is measured by Largest Contentful Paint, which should be 2.5 seconds or faster. Responsiveness is measured by Interaction to Next Paint, where 200 milliseconds or less counts as good. Visual stability is Cumulative Layout Shift, with 0.1 or lower as the target. Google suggests judging each at the 75th percentile of visits, split by mobile and desktop.
The audit then maps each failing metric to a template and a cause: a hero image that loads late, a chat widget blocking the main thread, web fonts shifting text, or ad slots with no reserved height. Each item on the fix list names the file or setting to change, so your developer does not have to rediscover it.
If your Search Console already shows a failed assessment, our page on fixing a failed Core Web Vitals assessment explains what usually causes it.
Schema and structured data: what the audit checks and what it cannot promise
The audit checks whether your structured data is valid, matches what is visible on the page, and uses types Google actually supports for your business, such as LocalBusiness, Product, Article or FAQ markup where it still applies. Invalid or misleading markup is flagged with the exact fix.
Be careful with anyone who sells schema as a ranking trick. Google’s structured data policies say Google “does not guarantee that your structured data will show up in search results,” even when the markup passes the Rich Results Test. Schema helps search engines and AI systems understand your page; it does not force a star rating or a rich result to appear.
In practice, audits in India turn up the same few issues: plugins adding two competing Organization blocks, review stars marked up on pages that show no reviews, Product markup missing price or availability, and local businesses with an address in schema that differs from their Google Business Profile.
Where markup needs building rather than repairing, see our schema markup services page.
Content gaps and search intent: the part free audits skip
A content gap is a search your buyers make that your site has no suitable page for. Finding them is often worth more than every technical fix combined, and it is the section that most separates an expert audit from a tool report.
We start from your own Search Console queries. Searches with plenty of impressions but poor clicks often land on the wrong page: a homepage ranking for “root canal cost in Jaipur” when a dedicated treatment page would convert far better. We also compare your pages with the ones Google currently ranks for your most valuable terms, looking at format and depth, not copying text.
Intent mismatch is the other half. A service page trying to rank for an informational question, or a blog post chasing a buying keyword, rarely wins. The audit tells you which pages to rewrite, which to merge, which to create, and which to leave alone because they already match.
- Queries with impressions but no matching page
- Two or more pages competing for the same search
- Money pages that answer the wrong question
- Thin pages that should be merged or retired
- Question searches that suit an FAQ or guide
The prioritised fix list: what the SEO audit cost in India should produce
The deliverable that justifies the SEO audit cost in India is a fix list ranked by impact and effort, not a long PDF of warnings. Each item should say what is wrong, why it matters for your business, how to fix it on your platform, who should do it, and roughly how long it takes.
We sort items into three bands. “Fix this week” covers anything blocking indexing or losing leads, such as a noindex on a service page or a broken contact form. “Fix this month” covers template-level speed, canonical and internal-link issues. “Plan for later” covers content projects and nice-to-have improvements.
We group repeated problems by template. Instead of 612 rows for 612 product pages with the same missing field, you see one row: “Product template: add availability to Product markup,” with a sample list of affected URLs. Your developer fixes it once and every page improves.
If some of the fixes are content work spread over months, compare our one-time vs monthly SEO guide before choosing how to buy them.
Should you buy an SEO audit alone or a package that includes the fixes?
Buy the audit alone when you have a developer or in-house marketer who can act on it; buy audit plus fixes when nobody on your side has the time or skills. Either way, insist that the audit is priced as its own line, so you are not locked into a retainer just to see the findings.
Some packages advertise a “free audit” that is really a sales document for a monthly contract. Others bundle a thin audit with months of link building you did not ask for. Neither helps you judge value. A clean quote shows the audit fee, the list of fixes, and the cost of each option to do them.
With BtechWaleTech you can stop after the audit and walkthrough, hand the list to your own developer, or ask us to carry out the fixes under monthly SEO from ₹10,000/mo. If the audit concludes the site is beyond patching, for example an old theme that cannot pass Core Web Vitals, we will say so and quote a rebuild from ₹20,000 as a separate option, never as a condition.
How long does an SEO audit take, and does speed change the price?
A small business site usually takes about a week from access to walkthrough; larger stores and migrations can take two to three weeks. Rushing does not lower the SEO audit cost in India, because the hours are the same; it only compresses them.
Our sequence is simple. Day one, you add us to Search Console and Analytics with read access. Over the next few days we crawl, collect field data and read your performance history. Then we analyse by template, draft the fix list, and review it among the three of us so nothing platform-specific is wrong. Finally we walk you through it on a video call and answer questions on WhatsApp afterwards.
The one thing that slows every audit is missing access. Without Search Console, we are guessing at indexing and query data. If your site is new and has no Search Console property yet, we help you set one up first and schedule the audit once a few weeks of data exist.
How to choose an SEO auditor in India without wasting the fee
Choose the auditor who asks the most questions about your business before quoting and promises nothing about rankings. The first conversation tells you most of what you need to know.
A good auditor asks what changed and when, which pages bring enquiries, who will make the fixes, and what platform you use. A weak one asks only for your URL and sends a price. Ask to see a redacted sample of a past fix list; if it is mostly charts and scores with no clear order of work, expect the same for your site.
Also ask what access they need. Read access to Search Console and a viewer role in Analytics is enough for almost every audit. No auditor needs your Google account password, domain registrar login or hosting root access to diagnose problems.
- Do you work from my Search Console data or only a crawler?
- Will findings be grouped by template and ranked?
- Are fix instructions specific to my platform?
- Is the audit priced separately from any fix work?
- Do you promise rankings? (The right answer is no.)

Red flags when the SEO audit cost in India looks too low
An unusually cheap audit offer is often an automated export with a logo on it, or a sales funnel for a retainer. Neither is dishonest by itself, but you should know which one you are buying before you pay.
Watch the language. A report that gives your site a single score out of 100 and lists hundreds of “errors” without context is built to alarm, not to guide. The same goes for any auditor who treats every missing meta description as urgent while ignoring that your service pages are not indexed.
- Delivered within an hour of receiving your URL
- No request for Search Console or Analytics access
- A promise of page-one or top-three rankings
- Hundreds of issues with no priority order
- Bundled backlinks from unrelated or low-quality sites
- Fixes available only if you sign a long retainer
- No walkthrough, only a PDF
Does an SEO audit cover AI Overviews and AI search visibility?
It should in 2026. A modern audit checks whether your key pages answer questions in clear, quotable passages, carry accurate structured data, and are reachable by the crawlers that AI search products rely on. The good news is that most of this overlaps with ordinary SEO hygiene.
We look at whether each money page opens with a direct answer, whether facts like prices, timings and service areas are stated plainly rather than hidden in images, whether your business details match across your site and Google Business Profile, and whether your robots.txt blocks crawlers you actually want. We do not sell tricks to “rank in ChatGPT”; we make your pages easier to understand and cite.
Measurement is still rough, so we judge progress through branded search, referral visits from AI tools where your analytics can see them, and whether your pages start answering the questions buyers actually ask.

India-specific checks that belong in the SEO audit cost
Indian sites share a set of patterns that audits designed for other markets often miss, and checking them is part of what the SEO audit cost in India should cover. Most relate to mobile networks, languages and local search.
Mobile comes first: most Indian visitors browse on mid-range Android phones over mobile data, so we test on a throttled connection and weigh mobile field data above desktop. Language is next: Hindi or regional pages often lack proper hreflang or sit on thin machine-translated copy, and Hinglish searches like “dentist ke paas” deserve their own treatment.
Local signals matter hugely for clinics, coaching institutes, shops and service businesses. The audit compares your Google Business Profile category, address and phone with your site and major directories, and checks whether each branch or city has a real page. We also look at WhatsApp click-to-chat and call buttons, because in India an SEO audit that ignores the enquiry path misses the point.
- Mobile field data on mid-range Android and slow 4G
- Hindi and regional language pages, hreflang and translation quality
- Google Business Profile and NAP consistency across branches
- City pages that are genuinely local, not swapped names
- WhatsApp, call and enquiry form tracking in Analytics
SEO audits across India
We audit sites for businesses in every state, remotely, using the same process. What changes from city to city is the competition and the search habits we check against.
A clinic in Jaipur competes on local map results, while a textile exporter in Surat needs international and B2B searches reviewed. Coaching institutes in Lucknow and Indore depend on exam-season queries in Hindi and English. Software firms in Kochi and manufacturers in Coimbatore usually need technical and content audits, while retailers in Nagpur and Bhubaneswar care most about local visibility and product pages. Businesses in Delhi and Mumbai face the stiffest competition, which makes content gaps and intent the deciding sections.
Whatever the city, the SEO audit cost in India is quoted the same way: by site size and depth, never by postcode.
A hypothetical SEO audit estimate for a coaching institute website
This scenario is illustrative, not a real client. Imagine a coaching institute in Indore with a WordPress site: about 60 pages across eight templates, three course pages in Hindi, a blog with 200 posts, and a complaint that enquiries fell after a theme change last year.
Before quoting, we would look at Search Console and run a sample crawl. Say the crawl shows the new theme added tag and author archives that Google is indexing, the Hindi pages have no hreflang, the course pages fail Interaction to Next Paint because of a heavy slider, and the blog has dozens of old posts competing for the same exam queries.
The quote would list a full audit with a migration comparison, priced for eight templates and a 200-post content review, delivered in roughly a week. The fix list might start with noindexing archives and removing the slider, then merging overlapping posts. If the institute wanted us to do the fixes, those would appear as a separate option under monthly SEO from ₹10,000/mo. Real numbers depend on what the data shows; this only shows how the estimate takes shape.
