What are white label SEO services in India?
White label SEO services in India are search optimisation tasks carried out by an Indian team and sold by another business under that business's own brand. The agency owns the client relationship, sets the price and presents the results; the Indian partner does the research, fixes and reporting out of sight.
The label part is literal. Audit documents, keyword maps and monthly reports go out with your logo, your colours and your account manager's name. The partner's name does not appear in the client's inbox, invoices or deliverables unless you choose to disclose it. That is the whole difference between white-label and ordinary subcontracting, where the client may know a specialist was brought in.
Agencies in the UK, US, Australia, the Gulf and within India buy white label SEO from Indian teams for three plain reasons: they have sold more SEO than their staff can deliver, they need technical depth they do not have in-house, or they want to add SEO to a web design or ads offer without hiring. Time zones help too, because work handed over at the end of a UK or US day can be progressed during the Indian day.
At BtechWaleTech, the three of us approach white-label work as developers first. Another of us handles technical SEO and data, one of us writes the front-end and back-end fixes, and the third of us keeps the task list, deadlines and reporting on track. If you want a broader look at who we are, the about page covers it.
When does white-label SEO make sense for an agency, and when does it not?
White-label SEO makes sense when your sales pipeline is ahead of your delivery capacity, or when clients ask for SEO you cannot deliver well today. It does not make sense if you have no one who can explain SEO to clients, because the partner cannot fix a relationship it never sees.
Use this as a rough decision rule. Outsourcing wins when you have somewhere between two and fifteen SEO clients, your margins depend on not carrying a full-time salary, and most of the work is repeatable: audits, on-page updates, technical hygiene, local listings and reporting. Hiring wins once your client book is large and stable enough to keep an in-house specialist busy every week, or when clients insist on meeting the person doing the work.
- Good fit: a web design studio whose clients keep asking “can you also do our SEO?”
- Good fit: a paid-ads agency that wants organic search as a retention product
- Good fit: a freelancer consultant who sells strategy but needs hands for implementation
- Poor fit: an agency that wants a partner to promise page-one results it can resell as a guarantee
- Poor fit: accounts that need daily on-site presence, events or in-person workshops
If you are still weighing whether an SEO specialist or a larger outfit suits your own clients, our comparison of an SEO agency versus a freelancer sets out the trade-offs from the buyer's side, which is useful when you pitch.
What white label SEO deliverables should you expect every month?
Expect a written list of tasks per client, completed work you can verify on the live site, and a report you can forward without editing. Anything vaguer, such as “ongoing optimisation”, makes it impossible for you to justify the retainer to your client.
A typical month on a white label SEO services India retainer with us is planned at the start and reviewed at the end. The mix changes with the site, but the categories stay stable:
Technical hygiene
Google Search Console coverage and indexing checks, broken links, redirect chains, sitemap and robots.txt review, Core Web Vitals regressions and structured data errors, with fixes applied in code where we have access.
On-page work
A set number of priority pages rewritten or extended each month: titles, meta descriptions, headings, content gaps, internal links and FAQ sections, drafted for your approval before publishing.
Content support
Briefs or full drafts for new pages and articles, mapped to keywords with clear search intent, so your client's site grows in topics rather than scattered posts.
Local and entity signals
Google Business Profile updates, category checks, citations and location page improvements for clients that serve a town or region.
Reporting
A branded monthly report showing clicks, impressions, top queries, pages that moved, work completed and next month's plan, in plain language your client can follow.
Link acquisition is deliberately missing from that default list. It is discussed separately below, because it is where white-label arrangements most often cause long-term damage.
How does white label SEO reseller pricing work, and how much margin can you make?
You pay the partner a wholesale price per client or per task, charge your client a retail price you set, and keep the difference minus your own account-management time. Nobody can tell you a “standard” margin, because it depends on your market, your sales cost and how many hours your team spends on calls and edits.
Here is the arithmetic we suggest agencies run before signing any partner, including us. Take the monthly wholesale cost for one client, for us from ₹10,000/mo (US$150/mo) per site. Add the hours your account manager spends on that client each month multiplied by your internal hourly cost. Add a share of your sales and tooling costs. Whatever remains between that total and your retail retainer is your real margin. Agencies that skip the account-management line are usually the ones who find white-label SEO “doesn't pay”.
Three things push wholesale cost up, and it is worth knowing them before you quote your client. First, site size and state: a 40-page brochure site with clean code needs less than a 3,000-product store with duplicate URLs. Second, content volume: writing four new pages a month costs more than editing two. Third, locations: each extra branch in a local SEO plan adds profile, citation and page work.
Quote your client only after the partner has seen the site. If you price a retainer blind and the audit then reveals a migration mess, either your margin disappears or the work gets cut. We look at the site first and itemise the quote so you can decide which lines to mark up and which to pass through at cost.
Which white label SEO pricing model suits your agency: per task, per client or hours bank?
Per-client monthly retainers suit agencies selling ongoing SEO; per-task pricing suits agencies that already have SEO staff and only need overflow help; an hours bank suits agencies with unpredictable requests. Each model shifts risk differently between you and the partner.
Per-client monthly retainer
The partner commits to a defined scope per site each month. You get predictable costs and simple resale. The risk is scope drift: if your client keeps asking for extras, the retainer quietly becomes unprofitable for someone. Our monthly SEO starts at ₹10,000/mo per site on this model.
Per-deliverable pricing
Each audit, page rewrite, schema implementation or redirect map is priced on its own. It is transparent and easy to mark up line by line, but it makes monthly budgets lumpy and needs someone on your side to decide what to buy each month.
Hours bank
You prepay a block of time and draw it down. It is flexible for agencies with mixed needs, but you must track usage closely, and it rewards slow work unless tasks are estimated upfront. If you want this model, ask us and it is agreed in your written quote.
Whichever model you pick, insist on a task log per client. It protects you in renewal conversations and shows exactly what your money bought, month after month.
How do you vet a white label SEO partner in India before handing over clients?
Give any prospective partner one real, low-risk client site and a paid trial task, then judge the output rather than the sales deck. Written promises cost nothing; a technical audit you can check line by line tells you almost everything.
Google's own guidance for hiring an SEO is a good starting script. Its Search Central page on whether you need an SEO states plainly that “no one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google” and suggests asking for examples of prior work, whether the provider follows Google Search Essentials, and how changes will be communicated. Add these agency-specific checks:
- Ask for a sample report with the partner's branding stripped out; judge whether you could send it to a client tomorrow
- Ask who exactly will work on your accounts and whether you can message them directly
- Ask how they build links, and walk away if the answer involves private networks or bulk guest posts
- Ask whether they can implement fixes in code or only recommend them
- Ask how client access is granted and removed when a contract ends
- Ask what happens to your client data and logins if the partner stops working with you
- Check that invoices, contracts and email signatures can stay out of your client's view
Run the same test on us. Send one site, pay for one audit, and compare it with what you currently deliver. If it is not better, you have lost little. Our guide on how to hire an SEO expert has more interview questions you can reuse.
Is white label SEO legitimate, and should you tell clients you outsource?
White-label SEO is a normal, legitimate business arrangement, the same way print shops, hosting resellers and accounting practices subcontract work under their own brand. What makes it ethical or not is honesty about results and about how client data is handled.
You are not obliged to announce every supplier you use, but you are responsible for everything delivered under your name. That means you should never pass on claims your partner makes that you cannot verify, never promise rankings, and never let client data travel to a partner without the access controls and confidentiality your own contract with the client requires.
Some agencies choose partial disclosure: they tell clients that “our technical team is based in India” without naming the partner. That tends to go down well with clients who value round-the-clock progress. Others keep the arrangement fully private. Both are fine, provided your client contract allows subcontracting and data processing by third parties. If you are unsure, ask your own lawyer to check your client agreement; we do not give legal advice.
One practical point: if a client later asks for a call with “the developer who fixed the site”, decide in advance whether one of us joins under your agency's name or whether your account manager relays the answers.
White label SEO contracts: NDA, non-solicitation and who owns the client
Put three things in writing before you share a single client name: confidentiality, a promise that the partner will not approach your clients directly, and a clear statement that all client accounts, content and data belong to the client and are handled on your instructions.
With us, those terms are set out in the written quote you approve before any client data is shared. If you have your own NDA or subcontractor agreement, send it along with the brief and we will review it and agree the wording with you; general terms of engagement are on our terms page. We do not publish standard notice periods or penalty clauses, because each agency relationship is different and these are agreed case by case.
Ownership is simpler than it sounds. Your client's domain, hosting, Google Search Console property, Google Analytics property and Google Business Profile should stay in your client's name, with your agency holding manager access. The white-label partner should be added as a user under those accounts, never as owner, and removed the day the engagement ends. Work product such as audits and content drafts is delivered to you for use under your brand.
The red flag to watch for in any contract is a partner that asks to own the Search Console property, register domains, or keep content in its own CMS. That is how agencies find themselves unable to leave a supplier without losing a client's history.
Giving a white-label partner access to Search Console, Analytics and the CMS
Grant each tool's lowest permission level that still lets the work get done, from your client's accounts, and keep a list of what was granted so you can revoke it in minutes.
Google Search Console has three permission levels: owner, full user and restricted user. For most white label SEO work, a full user is enough to inspect URLs and submit sitemaps; ownership is never needed by a partner. Google Analytics 4 uses roles such as administrator, editor, marketer, analyst and viewer, and a viewer or analyst role covers reporting. For WordPress, a separate named account with the editor or administrator role is better than sharing a password, and for Shopify, a staff account with only the permissions needed.
- One named login per person, never a shared “seo@” password
- Two-factor authentication switched on for every login we receive
- Staging site or theme duplicate for risky changes before production
- Access list kept in a shared sheet you control
- Access removed by you, not by us, at the end of the engagement
If your client's site sits on a platform you do not know well, tell us early. Our WordPress SEO and Shopify SEO pages describe what we typically change on each.
Communication, turnaround and time zones with an Indian white label SEO team
Most agencies run the relationship through one channel for tasks and one for urgent questions. With us, WhatsApp handles quick questions seven days a week in Indian Standard Time, and a shared task board or sheet holds the monthly plan for each client.
Time zones work in your favour if you plan for them. IST overlaps the UK business day from late morning, US Eastern mornings fall in our evenings, Australian afternoons fall in our mornings, and Gulf and Singapore agencies share most of a working day with us. A UK agency that sends a brief at 10 am London time can usually talk it through the same afternoon IST.
We do not publish a fixed turnaround for every task type. Deadlines for each client are set in the written quote and on the monthly plan, based on the actual workload, and you see them before you promise anything to your client. If a client has a hard launch date, tell us at the brief stage so the plan is built backwards from it.
Language is rarely a problem. All three of us work in English and Hindi, which also helps Indian agencies whose clients want Hindi pages or bilingual reports.
What should an unbranded white label SEO report contain?
A useful white-label report answers four questions for your client: what changed in search, what work was done, why it matters, and what happens next. Charts without explanation make clients nervous; explanation without numbers makes them suspicious.
Our default monthly report is built in Looker Studio or as a PDF, with your logo, colours and contact details. It pulls clicks, impressions, average position and top queries from Google Search Console, sessions and conversions from Google Analytics 4 where the client has set them up, and a plain-English task log from our side.
- Headline summary in three sentences your account manager can paste into an email
- Search Console clicks and impressions versus last month and the same month last year
- Pages and queries that rose or fell, with a likely reason
- Completed tasks with links to the live pages changed
- Issues found but not yet fixed, and who needs to act (us, you or the client)
- Next month's plan and any approvals needed
Reports come to you, never to your client, unless you ask us to schedule delivery from a tool under your own account.
Why developer-led white label SEO services in India get more fixes live
Many white label SEO audits end as spreadsheets that nobody implements, because the agency has no developer and the client's web person is busy. A partner that can change code closes that gap, which is where most of the ranking value in technical SEO actually lies.
Because all three of us build websites and apps for a living, a technical issue found on Monday can be fixed by Wednesday instead of waiting weeks in your client's IT queue. Typical examples: rewriting a theme's heading structure, fixing hreflang tags on a multi-country site, adding product and FAQ schema, replacing a slider that wrecks Largest Contentful Paint, or mapping 500 old URLs to new ones during a redesign.
That also opens upsells for your agency. When a client's site is beyond repair, you can resell a rebuild: static business sites start at ₹10,000, SEO websites with 299+ pages start at ₹20,000, and online stores start at ₹50,000, all delivered under your brand if you prefer. The build side is covered in more detail on our white-label development page.
One honest limit: we do not replace your client's own IT team for server administration on hardware they run themselves, and we do not work on site in anyone's office.
Link building in white-label SEO: the risk agencies inherit
Links are the part of white-label SEO most likely to hurt your client, because cheap bulk links break Google's spam policies and the damage lands on your agency's reputation, not the partner's. Treat any package that promises a fixed number of backlinks a month with suspicion.
Google's spam policies in Search Essentials describe link schemes, including buying or selling links that pass ranking credit and large-scale guest posting with keyword-rich anchors, as practices that can lead to lower rankings or removal from results. When a white-label provider quietly buys links on networks, the client's site carries the risk for years.
Our approach is slower and easier to defend. We improve the pages worth linking to, fix internal linking, clean up citations for local clients, and identify genuine opportunities such as supplier listings, industry associations and local press that your team or your client can pursue. We report every external link we are involved in, with the URL, so nothing is hidden from you.
If a client already has a history of paid links, start with an audit and, if needed, the clean-up approach described on our penalty recovery page before adding new work.
Adding AI search visibility to white label SEO packages
AI search visibility means helping a client's pages get cited in Google's AI Overviews and in assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. For resellers it is a sensible add-on, because the groundwork overlaps heavily with good SEO: clear answers, structured data, crawlable pages and a consistent entity profile.
In practice we add short, self-contained answer paragraphs to key pages, question-style headings that mirror what people ask, FAQ and organisation schema, consistent business details across the web, and a check that AI crawlers are not blocked by accident in robots.txt or a firewall. We report it honestly: no tool gives a complete count of AI citations yet, so we track what can be observed and say so.
If you want to package it as a separate line item for clients, our page on how to rank on ChatGPT explains the method in client-friendly terms that you can adapt under your own brand.
White label SEO services in India for Indian agencies and their clients
Indian agencies use white-label SEO the same way overseas ones do, with a few local twists: GST invoices, Hindi and regional-language pages, mobile-first audiences on low-end Android phones, and local businesses whose customers find them through Google Maps and then message them on WhatsApp.
We invoice Indian agencies in rupees, paid by UPI or bank transfer, with GST invoices for your books. For your clients, we can plan Hindi or bilingual pages (the client supplies or approves translations for other languages), make sure pages load quickly on budget phones over patchy mobile data, and add WhatsApp click-to-chat tracking so leads from organic search are counted rather than lost.
Local clients are where white-label agencies in India get the quickest wins. A clinic, coaching institute or showroom with a clean Google Business Profile, a proper location page and steady reviews often sees more enquiries long before its blog does anything. If a client's listing has been suspended, the reinstatement steps on our suspended Google Business Profile guide are what we follow behind your brand.
White label SEO support for agencies across India
We work remotely with agencies and consultants in every state. Agencies in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Kochi and Indore typically bring us overflow technical and on-page work for their local clients. Everything runs on WhatsApp, video calls and shared documents, so your city does not change the process or the price.
Overseas agencies usually come to us for the time-zone relay and for technical depth. Those in the UK, US, Canada, Australia and the Gulf are billed in US dollars through Wise, bank wire or PayPal, and the monthly plan is agreed in English with clear deadlines.
Worked example: a hypothetical agency adding white-label SEO
Say a six-person design studio in Leeds builds websites for dentists and physiotherapists, and four of its clients have asked for SEO. The studio has no SEO specialist and does not want to hire one for four accounts. This is a hypothetical scenario to show the mechanics, not a client story.
Week one: the studio shares read access to the four Search Console properties and a staff login for each WordPress site. We run unbranded audits and send the studio four prioritised fix lists. The studio presents them to its clients as onboarding documents under its own name. Week two: the studio signs off the first month's plan for each site, and we fix the technical items directly, such as redirect loops, missing schema and an oversized hero image slowing the homepage.
Weeks three and four: we rewrite service pages for each clinic, add FAQ sections based on real patient questions, tidy the four Google Business Profiles, and build the first branded report. The studio's account manager sends it with a two-line summary. Our cost to the studio for each site starts at US$150/mo a month; the studio sets its own retainer and keeps the relationship.
By month three, the studio has a repeatable offer it can sell to new clients, and when one clinic needs a new booking-led website, the rebuild goes through the same white-label channel.
Your first 30 days with a white label SEO partner: checklist
The first month decides whether a white-label relationship works. Treat it as a pilot with one or two clients, agree how you will judge it, and only then move more accounts across.
- Day 1–2: send the brief, client URLs and any NDA; receive an itemised quote in about two working days
- Day 3–5: grant user-level access to Search Console, Analytics and the CMS from the client's accounts
- Day 5–10: receive unbranded audits and agree priorities per client
- Day 10–25: fixes and on-page work go live after your approval
- Day 25–30: first branded report delivered to you with a draft summary for your client
- Day 30: review together what worked, what was slow and whether to add more clients
Keep the pilot small and the judgement strict. If you want a sense of how long ranking movement takes after work like this, point clients to our page on how long SEO takes, which sets realistic expectations without promises.
